About this ebook

Though my primary focus or revelation seemed to be "Page 1: God’s Timetable", there were many other insights that revealed Jesus more clearly. There is no point in knowing God's precise timetable without knowing who is managing and coordinating it. Over the millennia, the Biblical texts and Jewish law, and even God inspired teaching, have given us many ways to picture God’s plan for His children. Forgiveness, redemption, cleansing, sacrifice, salvation, sanctification, adoption, rebirth, repentance, restoration, victory, freedom, eternal life, and the list goes on. It’s all good but as you read these articles you will come to see how we have drifted from the purity and simplicity and completeness of what Jesus did. You will find a more intimate picture of God. Academic understandings are exchanged for real, personal concepts. I could go on to suggest that you will discover a freedom to follow God rather than rules. But this introduction will turn into a preachment, guilty of the same academic propositions that I am trying to strip away so that you can see Jesus, so much better.

    Version history

    Preface

The From me to you series of books are a compilation of articles that I initially published on my personal website, GeckoFocus.com. All the articles in this book, The Way Back can be found on the site in the section by the same name. The other books in this series are:

    GeckoFocus: Images from Genesis; and

    GeckoFocus: Shakeup.

Though the primary revelation of the GeckoFocus site started with Page 1: God’s Timetable, there were many other insights that revealed Jesus more clearly. While the other articles clarify and extend our understanding of events in the Bible, this series of articles focuses on what Jesus did and how, even today, we miss these insights.

I don’t know how long I will be able to maintain the GeckoFocus website, so I wanted to preserve these articles here. Please feel free to read them at no cost at GeckoFocus.com. However, it is often nicer to read in an eBook format.

    1. Rules of Paradise

In the Bible there are two places where we will find perfection. Both are called Paradise. Both have just one rule. If you take nothing away from this web-site other than this, then know the rule, then read on to find the way back...

(This article has been replicate in Images from Genesis because it was referenced from so many articles there.)

    The two paradises

The first paradise was in the Garden of Eden. The second is the Paradise in God’s heaven. Each is beautiful beyond compare but it’s not their beauty that makes them perfect, rather it’s because God is found there. In both paradises we experience the full-on close intimate presence of God. Their beauty and perfection is a consequence of this.

But sin cannot exist in God’s presence. Adam sinned – he rejected God and as a consequence he was excluded from the Garden. The consequence of sin is to be excluded from God’s presence! Every bad thing is a consequence of being separated from God by sin.

Rule 1: Sin excludes you from Paradise

The entire rest of the Bible is not God punishing man for sin but God trying to draw us back because He loves us. Ultimately God sent His own Son Jesus, to pay the price of sin, that is, death. Sin is now dealt with! We have been restored to the days of Adam. We have a free choice – to accept God or to reject God. And God has made even that simple. You have not seen Him, but you have seen Jesus – the physical likeness of God. If you accept Jesus then you accept God and if you reject Jesus then you reject God.

Rule 2: Jesus is the way back

That’s it boys and girls. Know the rules and decide if you want to get back.

The rest of this article is showing you how Rule 1 was played out in the Garden. God’s agenda was never to punish us, but to restore us. He was not angry, but grieved by the separation. The funny, or should I say sad thing, is that man keeps seeing it back-the-front...

Was God angry after the fall?

God hand planted and prepared a region of perfection in this world and placed Adam the son of God, in it. It was almost like a womb, were everything was provided and Adam shared close fellowship with God. Adam sinned. Of course God knew that this had happened, but God came as usual seeking His son to have fellowship. God confronts Adam and asked Adam if he had eaten the forbidden fruit. Virtually all translations present this as a question in Genesis 3:11 but we know that God knew (Psalm 139). This was to give Adam a chance to say sorry so that Mercy could Triumph over Judgement (James 2:13). But Adam did not. Now, the following series of events is one of the places where we get it backwards, so let’s play it back, backwards...

Genesis 3:23. God banishes Adam from His presence – from the Garden.

Genesis 3:22. Adam loses access to the Tree of Life, so his mortal life span cuts in and the certainty of death. God did not condemn Adam to death, but sin, excluded Adam from God’s presence and the Tree of Life, and death was a consequence.

Genesis 3:17-19. Adam must work laboriously all his life to provide food. God has always planned to be provider and everything was provided for in the Garden of Eden. But now, excluded from the Garden by sin, Adam must provide.

OK, do you see my point? Sin excluded Adam from God’s presence and the garden and the rest was a consequence, not a punishment. What was God’s immediate actions after this? Well, He immediately moved to cover their nakedness by clothing Adam and Eve and settled them east of Eden (Genesis 3:21-4). Though banished from the Garden, God provides clothing and an alternate place to live. So Adam had to provide food but we see God providing clothing and shelter. Not an angry God.
