Bible Memorisation Handbook - Dag Heward-Mills
Chapter 1
What is Bible Memorisation?
Bible memorisation is a great foundation of a great ministry. Today, many people do not stand on a strong foundation and cannot therefore generate a mighty work of God on the earth.
By hard work and with a diligent and humble attitude, you will develop the necessary character that can carry the great gifts of God. Through Bible memorisation your ministry will go to the highest possible levels.
Bible memorisation is simply committing key scriptures to memory so that you can quote them when necessary.
Become a Follower of Christ
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Matthew 4:19
You must understand that the aim is to make you a true follower of Jesus Christ who memorised scriptures.
Every day in life is a day for memorising a verse in the Bible.
Every day in your life is a great chance to develop a good and improved character.
Every interaction with another person is a chance to memorise a scripture.
Every interaction with a fellow believer is a chance to be tested on your memorisation skills.
In the following pages, you will find a set of scriptures every Christian is expected to memorise. I have personally chosen each one of these scriptures. These scriptures are not intended for you to just be able to refer to. They are for memorisation! There are many scriptures that you will know about but there are certain scriptures you must be able to quote!
Carry this book with you at all times. Be ready to quote any of these scriptures at any time when asked to. When you have been a Christian for some few months, you must be able to quote any of these scriptures. Indeed you must become a Bible-quoting man of God.
I declare you to be a follower of Jesus Christ and a good example of ministry through this unique Bible Memorisation book!
Chapter 2
The Importance of Bible Memorisation
A minister must be a carrier of the Word of God. He must be someone totally enveloped by the Word of God and it’s glory. This is why Bible memorisation is so vital to the development of the ministry.
In the beginning was the Word. This means that the Word of God will always be at the foundation of anything that God does.
Today, memorising scripture is gaining importance again because God is building a far more glorious church. The glory of this latter church will be far greater than the glory of the church that began to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. This also means that the ministers that will rise up, in the last days will be more anointed and glorious than before. They will know the Word of God and quote it effortlessly!
How will these glorious ministers and glorious churches be birthed and created? The Bible is clear on that. Through the Word of God a minister is developed and readied for great works in the service of Jesus. It is all about our knowledge of scripture!
In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, we see the powerful and vital revelation on how to be a good minister who is ready for all good works: scripture!
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
This Bible Memorisation Handbook gives you some of the most important scriptures you must know. It is a treasured collection of must-know scriptures. Take the scriptures in this book into your heart through the art of memorisation. As you memorise these scriptures you will have given yourself a mighty foundation for the ministry.
Be like Jesus our Saviour! Jesus Christ was full of memorised scriptures. Learn to speak the memorised scriptures out to your neighbour. For the rest of your life, you will be guided by the scriptures you have memorised. Jesus Christ quoted the scriptures to Satan in the wilderness and that was His main defence against falling into temptation.
Today, major religions of the world are emphasizing the memorisation of their holy books. Their young men belonging to these religions sit down for hours memorising entire texts of their holy books. This kind of dedicated memorisation has resulted in a radical faith which people are ready to die for.
We must memorise our holy book and become radicalized for Christ! That is the only way to go – radical ministers who know the word of God and can quote it effortlessly!
My personal testimony is that all the scriptures I learnt in secondary school became the real foundation of my Christian life and ministry. After school, I have continued to memorise scripture after scripture. This, you will realize, is the foundation for all important teachings you will ever receive.
My prayer for you is that the Bible memorisation exercise will shape your future in a permanent way. May you be thoroughly furnished for all good works in your life! May you quote the scriptures with ease! May your hearers be enchanted at your command of the Holy Scriptures! Amen!
