Gone with the Wind
I was sure you’d remain in my presence.
Suddenly, the wind began to bellow.
It gripped you.
You were bond to a ceaseless whirlpool of winter gust.
The wind snatched you away from me.
To think that it happened so quick.
Maybe I should have grabbed you by the hand so you could stay.
Sadly, I failed to do so.
Without any words, I watched as you drifted away.
No longer my soulmate.
I do not have one anymore.
She is gone with the wind.
I let her go.
Not a Day
Watching as raindrops swivel down my window.
Wondering how I managed to become separated from the spark to my fire.
Blowing my breath on the pane, creating a blotch of fog.
Same sullen playlist on repeat.
Songs from So Sick
to Nikes.
Not a day goes by dat’ I don’t reminisce of those joyous times that we spent.
How about our first date on your twentieth birthday?
I had no clue it was your glow day until you hopped on the phone and told me.
Not a day goes by dat’ I don’t miss the melodic tune of your voice whenever you called me babe.
Last time we chatted, you just called me Khali.
That was when I knew it was over.
I know you won’t be coming back.
I won’t attempt to bring you back.
You know where to find me.
I’ll be writing another book about heartbreak and misery.
I’ll be carrying the weight of these words in my next bestseller or viral interview.
My Brother’s Keeper
From the day that
