About the Author: Bishop Marcus D. Hill

Marcus Hill is the senior pastor and founder of the King of Glory Community Church in Buffalo NY.  Through this role, he enjoys leading others to Christ, forming ministries and developing helpful programs for those who are in need.  He’s a big believer in being a man for God.

Marcus is qualified to lead, to teach and to organize others, as he holds a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Medaille College in Buffalo NY.

Having spent 10 years as an educator in science and public speaking, ministering, hosting his own Radio Show and coaching both football and basketball for middle schoolers and young adults, Marcus is no stranger to hard work. Marcus uses a combination of ministry knowledge, along with the educational knowledge of Marriage & Family Therapy (Amridge University) to help with couple counseling. In doing so, he has successfully served a range of clients, including those dealing with trust issues, communication breakdowns, infidelity, etc.

Although this is his first co-authorship, his prayer is that whosoever reads One Last Try will gain a better understanding by looking at their relationship, through the eyes of their significant other.

About the Author: Delendra TarsaVena Peterson

Purpose is something Delendra TarsaVena has always questioned, but music has always in her spirit. With a singing and musical family, her interest in music was inevitable. Her musical memories travel back to her mother singing at their homes in Selma and Linden, AL. The beauty of her mother’s voice would rock and console her hurting soul. Her mother, Mary Peterson, was in a family gospel group was offered chance to receive a recording contract. However, she selflessly declined because she deemed her family was more important than traveling and fame.

Not listening to her parents, TarsaVena got married young and had two beautiful children. While completing her BA in Music at Judson College, her marriage of 7 years ended because of major issues. Not listening to her parents again, she got married to her singing partner, Cedric Mr. Setitoff Haywood. The singing duo met Mel Waiters, a Southern Soul Blues singer, left everything behind to follow their dreams of having a music career in San Antonio, TX, and completed an album on Waiters’ record label, Brittney Records, entitled Soul Time. With no artist development, the project did not do as the group, Hog Pin, had hoped. TarsaVena and her husband went back to Alabama, completed an album entitled End of the Rainbow on their own label (HUM Music), generated online sales and completed their first tour.

When things began to take off, the couple started facing marital issues. With her husband having an outside child on the way, the group broke up. It was through these life experiences that she began to realize her purpose and to pour her emotions into her own music. From this storm, her inspirational project, Life is not Gone, was birthed with the help of Toney Nixon.

Her singles, I’m Calling, Still Listening, and This I Do, landed her many concerts, 6 television news interviews, a major role in the movie and television series, Plus Size Divas (A movie about 9 women trying to figure out their lives spiritually, physically and mentally as plus size women), 2 compilation CDs with First Choice Gospel Records (TN), an appearance on Bobby Jones, on Artist Fest during the 2016 Stellar Awards and on Atlanta Live, 4 gospel awards from S & M Gospel Indie Awards in May 2015 along with 1 gospel award in May 2016, and 1 gospel award from Block Buster Showcase Music Awards.

Her upcoming project, Loving God, My Family and Myself, is focusing on the next level of her life after overcoming depression, divorce, financial problems and more. Her single, You’re so Worthy, is a life testimony as to how she realized that God loves her.

She found her way into ministry through her ministry, W.A.L.T. Ministries (Women Adoring the Lord and Themselves). On March 17, 2017, along with her daughter, Kyasia Chaney, she released a book, Diary of a Hurt and Confused Wife. From there, she started her television show, The New Indie Gospel Show, which airs on The NOW Network, VSC TV, The OnPoint Channel and the Alabama Word Network. On March 27, 2018, along with her partner, Ryan Dimitri Bowser, she will launch a TV channel, The OnPoint Channel, which has the capability to have over 250 million viewers. Through all her trials and tribulations, PURPOSE found her.

    Introduction

Many would argue that the divorce rate in America has increased rapidly over the last decade. Several others will emphatically disagree rebutting that reports of the marriage crisis in America is overblown. The demographic data about marriage and divorce are unfortunately no longer available for analysis. In 1996, the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) stopped collecting annual statistics on marriage and divorce due to budgetary considerations, and some states — such as California, don’t even report their divorce rates. The Census Bureau can provide estimates based on questionnaire data, but this relies heavily on self-report, and some people are reluctant to provide information about their marital
