    Vysakh Jayakrishnan hails from Thrissur, Kerala. He doesn't want to disclose anything else about him not because they are all bad but because they won't help a little in selling the first publishing venture of his. In case the readers feel offended on keeping the personal details of their beloved writer at large, they are humbly informed that he is an Engineer. Do they want to know anything regarding that? He thinks not. Yet he dares to inform a little more that he is not just a Bachelor Engineer but a Master Engineer who now tries to become Doctor Engineer. Now do they want to know anything further? He definitely thinks not.

      1.   A reunion

      I need to talk to you. The girl told the boy.

      Why? Asked the boy.

      Come with me. I need to talk.

      What’s it? Say it.

      Let’s go to some quiet place.

      O.K. Said the boy and they went to a quiet place to hear what his girlfriend had to say.

      Tell me what it is. Asked the boy to the girl.

      It is that... that I wish to tell you that I don’t hate you. I do not talk to you but it doesn’t mean that I hate you. I haven’t forgotten all those things you’ve done to me. Those helps you did to me. I always consider you next to my parents and my brother. I just request you to understand that much.

      The boy didn’t say anything. So the girl went on.

      Even then why I do not talk to you, I hope you know the reason. It’s nothing but the fact that you don’t see me as your girlfriend. Your lover. I have always felt that you behave like I am your younger sister. You never see a thing good in me. You always advise me. In your eyes, everything with me is wrong. You don’t see anything worth appreciating. I can’t go on like this. I can’t be your younger sister to whom you can preach all the time. If you want to make any relationship with me, it must be as a lover. I must be your girlfriend. And if you want to know why I am saying all these to you now, the reason is that I saw one of my friend broken up with her boyfriend accusing him for everything that turned wrong. I do not wish you to say that about me. That’s all.

      What should I understand from your last sentence?

      Nothing. I was just saying.

      I don’t know what to say to that saying. Can I say something else? The boy asked.

      What?

      I do not know what’s wrong with you. But you too should understand one thing. That I always wish to see only the good of you. I always expect to see the best of you. It is true I’ve criticized you on many times. But you can’t forget that I haven’t said a thing which your parents haven’t already told you. You yourself told me that. But the curious thing is that you still talk to them. It’s with only me you try out your silence strategy. And I know why. You stay with your parents. You need them. So you can’t keep mum to them. Hence you talk to them. It’s been a month now. A whole month you avoided me. Each of our friends teases me for this. It’s only my mobile which doesn’t ring at day or night. But one thing is definite. You can never expect me to come after you when you avoid me. I will never ever do that. This I wish to make you very clear.

      I do not want you to come after me. I just want you to understand the reason behind my silence. I can’t any more be the repository of accusations.

      If you are accused, that is for good reasons. And one more thing. I do want to know what will you do when you marry me. Will you avoid me then also?

      I do want to know that. Since the girl didn’t say anything, the boy asked her again.

      Why are you asking it again and again? Do you wanna dump me? The girl asked.

      I didn’t say it or mean it.

      You need not say it explicitly. I can understand.

      I want you to change.

      Like those stupid girls in your friend’s gang who always say stupid thoughts and idiotic jokes.

      Whatever. But remember that they are all loved and respected. You may not know it but on the day of our last trip when you were late to join us and knowing the situation between me and you, when someone asked us that where could you be seated inside the van, not just that there was a single person to offer her seat but they all said they couldn’t accommodate you near to them. You know how happy news was it to my ears!

      Ohh. It is a new information to me. I never knew that I have done such harm to our friends.

      You do not realize it".

      What should I realize?

      That you must control a little. Be a bit soft and polite. You can’t live in your own world.

      You too must understand a little. That I’m controlling more than I could control. You don’t know how much I control while spending my time with the other girls of our gang. You don’t know how much I control while I hear their stupidest thoughts and silly jokes. How much I control while I stand among them who knows only gossiping about other. They who speak only about TV serials, masala movies, the dress codes of their friends and enemies and such waste stuff. They who never read a book or a news paper or see a good movie at least. I always wonder why you boys could take interest in them.

      Boys like those types of girls. Their choices are like that.

      I’ve absolutely no concern in it. I said it only because you said that some of our friends do not like me. I too don’t like many of them. Even then its only love I have for them. All of them. Whatever they may say about me, I do not care.
