About this ebook

From YOUR heart to your child's heart…

Between school, extra-curricular activities, work and other things that pull us in a million directions, as parents, how can we fulfill our calling to not just raise "good kids" but raise followers of Christ? The reality is, sometimes it's not easy to figure out how to speak into our kids' lives on a daily basis while connecting with their hearts through the process! Regularly writing a short note and placing it in our kids' lunches is a great vehicle- along with being resourceful in other ways such as sticking notes on bathroom mirrors or even texting!

This book is designed to be a tool, giving ideas for how to marry creativity with intentionality as you encourage and plant a living and dynamic walk with Christ into your son or daughter while leaning into your love relationship with them at the same time.

Lunch Notes to Our Children includes:
* 10 biblically-based missional values crucial to sow into children
* Concrete illustrations for speaking encouragement into your child's life
* 100+ examples of ready-made notes
* Blank notes for you to cut out & begin writing your own notes!

    Introduction

    In all honesty, when I thought about my plans for my life, writing a book surely was not one of them. Writing a book is something I feared ever being asked to do—something completely overwhelming that I felt utterly unqualified and incapable of doing. As with most things, God took what seemed impossible in my eyes and estimation, and made it possible through a most unexpected way. When our youngest son was in elementary school, my husband and I periodically asked him if he remembered to pray before eating his lunch at school. At one point, our son looked at me and said, I sometimes forget, Mom. Maybe, it would help if you wrote me a note and stuck it in my lunch to remind me. At first, I thought that was somewhat silly. I mean, why should he need a note to remind him to pray and thank God for his food? But after pondering what he said and praying myself, I soon realized a lot more about what he was asking for and the power of what I could provide.

    At that particular time in his life, even as a grade-schooler, our son was being challenged to live out his beliefs in the midst of an environment in which most of the kids around him were not actively moving in the same direction that my husband and I were asking him to move. He did not necessarily see others doing what we were asking him to do. He was likely questioning whether it was even necessary. I truly believed he needed armor with which to fight the battle. I began to meditate on the sixth chapter of Ephesians, which says:
