- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I found the book fascinating! Easily the best book on trauma I have ever read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was suggested to me by a friend and I was skeptical. Trauma. That's only for war veterans right? While war vets do come by the PTSD diagnosis rightfully, this book made me see just how acutely all humans are effected by trauma to some degree or another. It's just part of our experience in this realm. And as we heal ourselves, we heal the world. Dr. van der Kolk provides many, many examples from his practice throughout the years, and even from his own personal experiences. Some examples are slightly disturbing to take in, but necessary to the whole of this work. He lays out his years of research and progress and explains all of it in terms that anyone can understand. I have been profoundly moved, and will never see the world the same. And I mean that in a good way. This book has broadened my understanding of my past and it's residue, and has allowed me to see my fellow humans in a more compassionate light. Everyone should read this book. Seriously.

Pretty cool idea! These summaries are much more in depth than those in blinkist and Scribd reading app on desktop is really good which could maximize the speedreading techniques that I've recently learnt.
