- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5this is beautiful story.I was impressed with this bird.Hppy Prince is very kind to everything.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Much as I love Wilde; this is not one of my favorite fairy tales. Its moralizing tone and theme of self-sacrifice/martyrdom may seem surprising to anyone familiar with Wilde's character. Overall, it just feels a bit saccharin and flat. It's OK, but it has none of the incisive wit that Wilde's better writing displays.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5One of the first 'movies' I watched (something like four decades ago) which immediately compelled me to seek out the book. After reading this story, I've gradually tried to get around to reading everything by Wilde. And though he's done a lot of diverse stuff, I've really enjoyed most of what I've read so far.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This children's book is one of the most beautiful book I've ever read. I made the mistake of reading it aloud to a 5th grade class once--bit hard to do when your voice cracks as you are trying not to cry.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A tender and beautiful story no matter your age. Still and always a favourite.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I read this book/story a long time ago, I think I was about 7 or 8. It touched me deeply, and was actually the first story that made me cry. (before that I only had read "happy" stories)

THE HAPPY PRINCE
THE HAPPY PRINCE
High above the city, on a tall column, stood the statue of the Happy Prince. He was gilded all over with thin leaves of fine gold, for eyes he had two bright sapphires, and a large red ruby glowed on his sword-hilt.
He was very much admired indeed. He is as beautiful as a weathercock,
remarked one of the Town Councillors who wished to gain a reputation for having artistic tastes; only not quite so useful,
he added, fearing
