Dedication
For all the wild women who get the job done.
The house was deathly quiet. Appropriately so. It was a crime scene, after all. As I walked down the hall, I could hear my footsteps clattering on the tile floor. Uniformed officers in the hallway nodded solemnly towards the kitchen. That is where we would find the body. I wasn’t sure what we would find, but I knew it would be bad. The brass always sent me to the weird ones.
The kitchen had a modern vibe, with its dark cabinets and light floors. All the appliances were stainless steel. Before I came around the kitchen island, it looked pristine. Then, I saw the sink.
The plumber was jammed under the sink with blood pooling out on the sides. Working hard until the end.
Looks like someone sprung a leak,
I said. What’ve we got boys?
Steve rolled his eyes at me and replied, Frank Ivy. Local plumber. Pretty well known. Murdered with his own wrench. Not sure how someone could climb in there and bludgeon him. He was beaten pretty much to death.
"Pretty much?
