Some of the issues examined in the book include a brief history of discrimination against people with disabilities, beliefs regarding causes of disabilities in Africa and Nigeria, scientific perspectives on causes of disabilities, some cases of disabilities in Nigeria, reactions to disabilities, social implications of non-adaptability to the condition of people with disabilities, remediation for people with disabilities, legal instrument and rights of people with disabilities and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities. Primarily, issues in the book are examined from both a philosophical and social studies contexts, and both the authors of the book are respectively trained in these aspects and subject areas (Edwin Etieyibo in philosophy and Odirin Omiegbe in social studies).
