About this ebook
Squirrel is rushing along a tree limb when she trips, losing all her acorns into the rushing water of the river below. Angry and frustrated, she doesn't know what to do. Her good friend, Rabbit, lends both a sympathetic ear as well as a solution.Rather than get angry, Rabbit tells her, rate the problem on a scale of one-to-ten. By identifying and realizing the true importance of the issue, the issue may not seem so overwhelming.Adorable forest creatures help the sad squirrel put everything into perspective so he does not to get stuck in a rut over something that may not be a big deal after all.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Squirrel drops all of his acorns and begins crying. Rabbit is there to help squirrel. Rabbit shares a way to rate things from one to ten. One is the least and ten is the worst. This is a great way to help kids deal with problems and to put them into perspective.I received a copy to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One to Ten: Squirrel's Bad Day, by award-winning author Carol P Roman, is an enchanting story sure to delight young children. Illustrator Mateya Arkova beautifully portrays the story with bright colors and cartoonish pictures of the forest and squirrel's animal friends. Youngsters will learn how to look at a problem in a different light as the story of squirrel's bad day at losing his acorns turns into an acorn gathering party. Using examples of other animals, like Froggy, Little Fox and Hammy, the author shows how sometimes problems are not as bad as we might first think. An adorable book to begin teaching children to take time to solve problems instead of getting angry and frustrated about them.I received a copy of the book from the author. A favorable review was not required and opinions are my own.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This children's book teaches young children how to deal with disappointment and sad feelings. Squirrel thinks he has had the worst day ever because while carrying an armload of nuts, he trips and drops them all into the river. But, his rabbit friend comes over to console him and help him deal with his frustration. By assigning this moment a number from 1-10, Squirrel can capture the scope of the problem and hopefully realize that it isn't so bad and find the good that came from it. By, talking through big issues like parents divorcing or grandparents moving away or pets dying, there are still ways to find the good things and realizing that maybe right away they deserve a big number, but after a bit, the sadness turns into something else. It's ok to save those 9's and 10's for the bigger disappointments, but for the day to day things that are upsetting, maybe a lower number is ok.The illustrations by Arkova are watercolor-like and show the animals in the forest spending their days with their friends. The author uses onomatopoeias in the story which will make the children laugh, especially if the reader uses inflection while reading them.Even though the theme is a bit sad, the animals try to find the good after a bad experience and really, that is a good thing to learn as a kid. Many adults have trouble with that concept.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One to Ten: Squirrel's Bad Day by Carole P. Roman is a cute children's book that teaches kids to put their problems in prospective. Sounds like a big order for little kids but the way she does it with this delightful, and colorful book. There are cute little animals describing their problems and putting a number, 1-10, of how much of a problem it was for them. All putting things in prospective without even knowing it. Cute book and a good way for them to learn early.
