To expose one's heart for the world to see is a humbling realization; for another to gain compassion as a result of it is to be humbled completely.

This book came to fruition out of a lifetime of research into the nature of spirituality. Several life-changing events over the past forty years verified there is in fact a state of being called eternal consciousness. My research was conducted through extensive hands-on practice that involved years of contemplation, meditation, and self-analysis. Over this period of time, I accumulated a significant personal library. The combination of hands-on spiritual practice and detailed analyses of a broad range of spiritual theories, cited at the end of this book, provided the necessary justification to write The Kingdom Within. The book points toward the mental process whereby the mind is stilled and a higher reality is realized. Unless the mental dynamics that arise in man's daily patterns of social life are neutralized, the possibility of obtaining a state called enlightenment will not manifest.

The old cliché A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step works for spirituality too. The mind is like a wild horse; it must be corralled, tamed, ridden, and then finally put out to pasture. Likewise, there are progressive steps to identify the root source of the mind and how it evolves into self with all the faculties of sensuality. You may be wondering whether you have to be a hermit or a spiritual scholar to find the answers. In some ways, you have to give to get, and through this giving, you will find the meaning of life. You must first enter the water to get wet. What gets you wet is deciding to take action. The process for spiritual ascension evolves naturally. Rather than wondering about the reality of this question all your life, wouldn't it be liberating to find the true answer? If I had it all to do over again, would I do it again? Yes, without hesitation, because through the process of obtaining clear insight into the nature of eternal reality outlined in this book, you can tame the horse and leave it in the pasture.

This book will present several different views of similar concepts. This is because the subject matter must tackle the self (you) that thinks it is separate from the Self (God). Throughout the book, the definitions of self and Self will be explained along with many other words that conceptualize higher reality. The topics covered in this book are not for the fainthearted. If you are a serious spiritual seeker, the book will be invaluable in your search for the meaning of life. If you are a classical student of religion and are motivated by cultural trends that teach the principles of institutional linear religion, this book would be of great benefit to an effort to understand the reality of being human. Some spiritual seekers just want to verify that they are on the right path; this book will definitely challenge the mind to open into a higher reality. As with all mental dynamics played out on the earth, there is a time and place for everything.

The Kingdom Within is a progressive teaching to turn the outward motions of the mind inward, where ultimate consciousness will be realized to be the source of being. Part 1 digs into the definitions of cosmic reality and many of the theories that have been carried throughout human history. Part 1 outlines the progressive steps to tame the mind and then release the boundaries of ego. Part 2 blends the nature of higher awareness with the concept that man is a perceiver of life and is part of the eternal kingdom that has no boundaries. Part 2 answers difficult questions about spirituality, clarifying in a practical way the reality of an enlightened state of being.

Introduction

This book would have never surfaced without the subtle presence of God pushing it to the surface. Since 1995, I pushed back on the information that is written in this book, knowing that all things that need to appear in physical form will do so when the time is right but asking why I should be a part of this process. Seeing the suffering of people living their lives in bondage to all sorts of conditions kept tugging on my spirit. The result of this burden of compassion for others intensified until it took the form that you now have before you. The biggest burden to overcome was deciding whether I am a worthy candidate to write this material down for others and whether the quality of the information will be good enough to move seekers to find the truths that will set them free.

The search to understand the meaning of life is something we all think about from time to time. Very early in life we discover our humanness but don't realize the magnitude of the reality. Yes, it is a simple realization to know one exists, but the journey of human awareness begins when we discover that we somehow are connected to a physical body. The nature of humanness causes each of us to ponder our relationship with one another and, more important, what we understand life to be.

The search for the meaning of life kicked into high gear at the passing of my grandfather back in 1969. I was thirteen at the time, and it was my first experience with the trauma of death in my family. Seeing how emotional some of my family became during the grieving process really affected me in a way that opened up a lot of unresolved questions. The big question that lingered for years came as a result of my grandfather's death: I wondered, what really happens to us when we die? Obviously, for a Christian the answer is that we go to heaven if we believe in the salvation message of the Bible. For most Christians, the Biblical message resolves the big question through faith and repentance. I accepted the gospel of Christianity that those who believe go to heaven after they die. But where is heaven? Jesus said it is within. So if heaven is within, then why can't we go there now rather than waiting until death to experience it? The quest to resolve this spiritual dilemma gradually increased in intensity for the next twenty years until, one day in October 1989, the answer burst through the door of mental darkness. After that time, there were several spiritual revelations that unfolded over the next few years that refined the answer to the location of the kingdom of heaven and the fact that it exists. The startling fact is that heaven really exists now, not just after physical death. What follows may shake the foundations of some spiritual beliefs, but the fact that there is a direct living connection with the eternal nature of human awareness that can't be refuted by scholarly debates and religious doctrines can be confirmed. It's the real experience with the divine that resolves the issues relating to human life and suffering. In my opinion, this was what Jesus meant when he said the kingdom of heaven is within (John 14:23). All of us need to experience the life-changing revelations that turned Saul of Tarsus into Paul the Divine on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1--19, Acts 13:9).

Today, more than ever, man needs to integrate spirit and body into an understandable whole. Instead of running toward a higher concept of reality, society is running away from it. Interest in pursuing an enlightening realization that would resolve the big questions of life is sacrificed for a mentality of technical sophistication. If people only knew that the biggest secret of being human is no secret; it's just a matter of unlocking the dormant potential of the mind. Can one truly resolve the riddle of the ages? Carefully digesting this information will provide enough evidence to point a serious seeker of spiritual wisdom to the path of proof that there is a level of illumination beyond the ordinary. The proof of this book is the actual experience it attempts to convey to the serious seeker of highest truth. The challenge is to accept the truth revealed within these pages as authentic instead of just another book about spiritual theories. Why write a book about spirituality when so many good books that have tackled the subject are available? If you discovered millions of pounds of gold in an unexplored cave, would you not share it with your family? While there are many spiritual books, there are few that describe the nature of eternal consciousness as already embedded in the mental dynamics of the mind. The Kingdom Within details how consciousness manifests in the universe and, more important, within one's being.

The Kingdom Within is a progressive teaching that will challenge a serious spiritual seeker's quest for eternal truth by breaking down the trappings of illusion and misunderstandings that develop from just studying materials without applying a method of focused reflection. The Kingdom Within is a proven, conscious mental guide toward self-realization and spiritual awareness at the highest levels of human existence. Using this book along with one's personal spiritual library will bring new life to the search for the kingdom of heaven and ultimately reveal the great light that shines in the darkness awaiting those who are wise to take up the torch to find that which enlightens a dormant mind.

May God bless your search for truth and reveal the deep workings of the kingdom (eternal consciousness) before the days of the physical journey come to a close. As mentioned in the Bible, paraphrased from several scriptures, it is our destiny as the children of God to inherit the kingdom of eternal life. Because man has the innate capacity to inherit this level of divine understanding, it was meant to be sought after as the prime goal of life. All the other ambitions of life pale in comparison to man's quest for eternal reality. Attaining the key to the kingdom of heaven is a life-changing experience not meant to be postponed through a futuristic faith process but a real intervention with divine awareness in the here and now.

The Kingdom Within should stand on the merits of the information revealed; therefore, extensive proof through scholarly works on the subject can be used to verify accuracy if necessary. The most precise proof is in the experience of higher awareness. Those who have acquired in-depth knowledge of higher spiritual doctrines and philosophies should find this information invaluable to further penetrate the illusion of separateness from the divine. Higher spiritual formulas should point toward the immaculate reality of pure awareness rather than the theories of it. To populate one's mental processes with grand formulas of heavenly places and principles moves a spiritual seeker further from the goal than toward it.

The Kingdom Within's purpose is to teach how to still the mind and allow the inner wisdom of one's being to transcend the bodily sensations of daily life. A successful seeker of ultimate truth needs the tools of faith, willpower, courage, focus, love, and humility. Grace will be supplied from God when the time is right, thereby putting to rest arguments that God doesn't exist. One will eventually discover that grace is the language of a still mind and a providential God. Only by stilling the mind of man can we learn from the higher teachings already planted within us from the moment of conception. Just as Moses received divine direction from the burning bush of the Old Testament, each one who treads this path is on holy ground and must learn the lessons of a spiritual pathway. Those who search for the meaning of life can be compared to a parent searching for a lost child. Imagine the trauma of losing a child and not knowing where to look---this is how life begins. People are lost in the wilderness of life looking for answers to resolve the insatiable appetite for human expression. Did God create this paradox for humans? The answer awaits those who faithfully search within. When one discovers the key to the mystery of eternal awareness, one discovers the purpose of life. Discovering the purpose or reason for life makes all things clear and miraculously fulfilling. One discovers the earth is a remarkable place!

God's Presence in the World

Who God Is

God is the source of energy that sustains the universe. He is the intelligent energy that preserves thought and motion. God is the all-penetrating matrix of potentiality to sustain and preserve everything in an intelligent synergy of cosmic expression forever. God is the eternal fountain from which all things expand and contract; he is the light of creation!

God is the multilayered subtle quantum matrix of thought that sustains order in the universe. The universe is the mind of God, which distributes all potential forms of expressions and preserves them eternally. God is the word we use to describe the all-penetrating intelligent synergy of the universe. God, being highly refined intelligent energy, captures thought and preserves it in an endless web of order and potentiality. He is the great preserver of thought and molecular order. Every possible thought pattern is preserved forever, with nothing lost to illusionary time segments and focal points in space. God is the total summation of universal intelligent energy, which exists because its nature is the universe in myriad forms of potentials to come into or recede. The more refined the intelligent energy is, the more it blends into the purest energy stream we call God.

Who God Is Not

God has no mortal body. How could God be totally present in an advanced super being without us finding the direction of his radiant energy in the open universe? Since God manifests through all molecular structures, how could he be totally present in one location without the universe imploding upon the source of his radiance? If God created the heavens and earth and then vivaciously jumped outside space and time, this would contradict his participatory presence in the universe and all proven laws of physics. Why play games with creation? Would God play these games and manipulate the natural events and outcomes as a game of life and death? If he did specifically intervene into the vast matrix of creation, this would be a form of deception. God's reality must represent highest truth, and man's reality must represent an interpretation of it. Truth can't lie, so God isn't out to deceive us but to just be what God has always been. If
