    REV. MICHAEL BOGAR

    TEACHER OF TEACHERS

    THANK YOU

    APPRECIATIONS

No one can write a book by herself. Many people have contributed to this project, in a variety of ways, and I wish to acknowledge and express appreciation for all of them.

First, my parents, for birthing and raising me and providing a childhood experience that led me to begin to explore the meaning and value of life.

My daughters: Jenefer and Rebecca, for their love, support, guidance, and sometimes questioning what their mother was up to this time.

And my son-in-law for his daffy-duck-geekiness that got us all through this.

My sister Liz, who proof read the manuscript, many times; and her husband, who kept things going even through hurricanes.

And my dear soul twin Peggy who resurrected me and helped me through the final stages.

And then there is the cat, Fivers, who purred and furred over the computer and manuscript and comforted me through all the vagaries of the adventure.

There are the publishers and authors who helped out with the mechanics of book writing.

Then there are all the teachers along the way, as this book has been a life time in the making. We are fortunate if asked, is there one person who influenced you the most in your life? This causes us to think, and as I thought about it, the one person who most influenced me was immediately apparent. One person, who is a living example that the teachings included in this book are not just dry words on paper, but a real and true guide to living a life worth living. He practices what he preaches, and has inspired me and many others to do the same. And that is why the book is dedicated to him. Michael Bogar.

I wish to acknowledge in appreciation, Creator, whose book this really is.

    Thank you, All.

    PREFACE

As a child, I made a promise to myself to find a ‘morebetter’ way to live. This book is a summary of a lifetime of searching and finding, questing and discovering ways to do just that. It is a compilation of the gathering of the seeds of wisdom from the Sages of the Ages for contemporary use. It is written and offered in the hope that maybe someone else might benefit from this quest.

Not everyone can spend years of their lives in this pursuit. Some of the well traveled pathways are unfamiliar, and some are very pricey. Therefore, the summaries are offered as a way to get an idea of what the Sages of the Ages were talking about. And then, one might be inspired to follow up on a particular teaching. For example, it is not safe to go to Tibet at this time to learn about their ancient lifeways. But it is safe to read a little about what that is about, to maybe find out if this pathway is appropriate for the Self now. And, it is safe to go elsewhere to see the Dalai Lama, and to have some understanding of what he is talking about.

As there is infinite variety, not every life pathway can be represented here. Please feel free to use this information as a port of entry, and/or a safe port of call in your own adventure of life.

Every attempt has been made to honor authors and copyrights, as this is integral to living in integrity. In current times and from current publications, only titles, chapter headings, and very brief quotes are used. This again serves the purpose of introducing the reader to possibilities. It is strongly recommended that books be purchased, or borrowed from libraries, and studied; audio/visual tools be used; and seminars attended to fully benefit from our current teachers. If your library does not have a book title, or a/v tools, ask them to get it for you.

We live that we may learn to love, and we love that we may learn to live. No other lesson is required of us. (Naimy, Mikhail. Book of Mirdad. Penguin: MD. 1971. p.62)

    INTRODUCTION

    STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

This book is offered as a course of study of the Wisdom Teachings of the Sages of the Ages, for the express purpose of creating opportunity for each individual to quest the discovery of their own Soul.

Ancient Wisdoms teach us that when we know our own Soul, and live in integrity with ourSelf, we are then healthy, holy, happy people who can and do fulfill the purpose of our birth. We are in harmony with Creation.

The course is designed to accommodate the focus of study on one concept per day, for one year. The linear model used is the lunar month. This is chosen as it replicates the cyclicity of evolution, in a natural sense. It therefore provides the opportunity to explore what is important to Self, while not being culture-bound to time/event values of the culture of one’s society.

Each Wisdom Teaching is offered as a starting point for the possibility of perceiving the human life experience from a different perspective. It is one way of applying the ancient teaching in contemporary life. It is up to each individual to explore and experience each concept to determine the value of it to Self. Some of the works are ancient, some are contemporary. Each Wisdom work, and/or author, is introduced by a short essay on the work. There is a bibliography provided to gain more information on topics the reader may find particularly intriguing.

In addition to daily guides, there are monthly overviews of the daily guides. The information is further provided as summary material pertaining to each author and Wisdom teaching. Community resource people may be accessed for assistance, according to content of the concept; i.e., Buddhist masters for Buddhist teachings; Holistic Health practitioners for Holistic concepts; New Thought ministers for New Thought teachings; licensed Spiritualist practitioners; the editors and authors of books; and of course, the author of this book. Audio-visual material is available through private purchase, libraries, and electronic media.

Judge Thomas Troward reported the ancient Truth that when the end is secured in mind, the means of achieving that end are also secured. Therefore, your goal is already achieved. (Troward, Thomas. Collected Essays of Thomas Troward. DeVorss: CA. 1921. p.18)

    LUNAR MONTHS

This course of study is organized in a linear fashion in accordance with the notion of thirteen Lunar Months per year. It is recognized that a Lunar Month is measured as 29.5 days, or the amount of measured time it takes the moon to complete a circuit around the earth. This is ignored in the Gregorian calendar method now in use, as it is based upon the solar model, or the length of time it takes the earth to complete a circuit around the sun. Some consider a Lunar Month to be 28 days. Twenty-eight times thirteen is 364. That is very convenient. But Lunar cycles are not 28 days long, they are 29.5. Therefore, in this work, the Lunar Month model being used is that of 29.5 days. Twenty nine point five times thirteen is 383.5, the number of days in a Lunar Year. While the work is designed to be used in synchrony with a Lunar calendar, it can be used with a Solar calendar, or with the Gregorian calendar, by always starting Day 1 of the study on day one of the Solar month, or day one of the Calendar month. To help facilitate this conversion in contemporary culture, all ‘Month 13s’ are listed as the introductory chapters, or Day 0; or as ‘half-days’, as there are 13 half days in a Lunar Year.

    CREATIVE INSPIRATION

It is suggested that the student start their study on a day that is of particular significance to them. This Personal Day completes a half calendar day. It could be the birthday; the conception day; an anniversary; a day of the greatest joy; whatever. Many Wisdom teachers suggest starting a Lunar study process during the new phase of the Lunar cycle. Many references are available. One that is useful within this context is We’Moon. (We’Moon Gaia Rhythms For Womyn. Mother Tongue Ink: OR. 1999) For information on the 13 Lunar Month Maya Calendar, go to Tortuga.com.

It is further suggested that this day be celebrated in a sacred manner, such as a silent retreat, meditation, participation in a sacred ceremony of significance, or in some way marking a commitment to the discovery of one’s own Soul; the purpose for pursuing this study.

Starting a journal during this time will be extremely helpful to the student throughout the process of this course of study. It would be wise to indicate the Personal Day, and then start the study with 1st Lunar Month, Day 1. The use of a loose leaf binder is recommended, as then pages can be stored in an orderly fashion, and one has the recorded history available for weekly, monthly, and/or yearly reviews.

    LUNAR HALF DAYS

Just a reminder: there are 13 half days in a Lunar Year. You are free to use them any way you wish.

    PERSONAL COMMITMENT PAGE

Take note of how you have begun your year of Soul discovery.

    THE RULES FOR BEING HUMAN

    1.   You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period this time around.

    2.   You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called Life. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think of them as irrelevant and stupid.

    3.   There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial and error: experimentation. The ‘failed’ experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately ‘works’.

    4.   A lesson is repeated until learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you may go on to the next lesson.

    5.   Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.

    6.   ‘THERE’ is no better than ‘HERE’. When your ‘there’ has become a ‘here’, you will simply obtain another ‘there’ that will, again, look better than ‘here’.

    7.   Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself.

    8.   What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

    9.   Your answers are inside you. The answers to Life’s questions are inside you. All you need do is look, listen, and trust.

    10.   You will forget all this.

    11.   You can remember it whenever you want.

    12.   The lesson is: That all we know of love is love is all there is. Emily Dickinson.

    13.   The Real Rules: 1. All is One. 2. If it looks like there are two, go back to One.

    EMMA ONE

Day Two of each Lunar Month features the teachings of Emma Curtis Hopkins, one at a time.

    1. The Foundation Principle. The Word: Statement of Being: There is Good for me and I ought to have it. The Statement of Being is to be stated and realized every day to live in the awareness of God-Good. (SCMP p.17)

I name my Good and it is:

By this Emma means ‘have to have’ as that is what the word ‘ought’ means. For example, there is air for me and I ought to breathe it. I have to breathe air; I cannot not breathe air. God is Good she says, and God is all there is, therefore, I cannot not have my Good. She teaches us to name our Good, name it and claim it. Do so now.

There is good for me and I ought to have it. I name my Good and it is:

If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are half way through. We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others. That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows. Self-seeking will slip away. Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us. We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.
