orna.jpg Tamara was really pissed, she had rented a car for this very reason. Now here she was walking in the night, down this dark country road like something out of a horror story and according to the last sign she was eight miles from the nearest town, all because her rented car had broken down. She calculated the distance in her head, at four miles per hour walking speed, that was two hours. If she jogged from time to time that might cut the time by half an hour. Great she would jog into town at two thirty in the morning. She checked her phone again, still no signal. That was strange, what did the people that lived in this town do without cell phone service? She had just started to jog when she heard a car coming up from behind her. She had already made up her mind not to be seen. She felt safer walking in to town then trusting someone for a ride. She was lucky the moon was full, it lit the way as she moved into the bushes at the side of the road to let the car pass. The road here was cleaved from the side of the mountain leaving a steep drop on one side and a very steep rise on the other. As she hunkered down behind a bush so she wouldn’t be seen by the person in the car, and in the quiet she heard a deep rumbling growl off in the distance and down the hillside behind her. She was holding precariously on to a shrub and crouching down, letting the surrounding shrubs shield her from the car’s lights as it went by. After the car passed she began to pull herself up by the shrub she had been holding onto when it snapped. Letting out a hyphenated scream she tumbled over backward, crashed through some bushes, careened off a small tree hitting her back against it. Just as she felt herself falling off into open space, the crook of her arm caught on a root sticking up. She grabbed it with her other hand and she dangled there her feet trying to find purchase. She switched so her other hand that was holding the root, she twisted and turned trying to look behind herself to find a way to get down. There was nothing but open air.

Tamara looked for a way to move to her right or her left but all the shrubs and trees were far to small, to hold her weight. Tamara looked down, but all she saw was darkness, she could not tell how far it was below her, but it was to far to let go and fall, she was sure of that. She tried not to panic, she had always been able to keep her cool in a tight, but this had her terrified. She became even more terrified when a large shape passed between her and the moon. She screamed as something gripped her on both shoulders and with a rush of air pulled her away from the ledge, the grip on her shoulders was gentle but firm as she flew upward for a moment, and then downward. After what must have been less then ten seconds, she saw a moonlit grassy area and the downward motion intensified. The air rushed by and she closed her eyes not wanting to look as the ground rushed up. Her feet felt solid ground and she tumbled onto the ground, scratching her elbow on a small stone. She opened her eyes and pushed herself to her feet, turning she found a man who looked to be around twenty five standing there. He had a smirk on his face and not a thread of clothing on, but she could see that he was not self conscious about it at all. His eyes held hers for a small time, Tamara straightened her self up, doing her best to make her voice firm and confident, doing her best to hide the terror that threatened to bring her to her knees.

Who the hell are you? It didn’t come out as planned, her voice squeaked as she spoke, her face became red because of it. The man chuckled, I just saved your life and my name is Acacia, as in the tree. I was named that in hopes I would be strong and true. How did you happen to be hanging up there? I fell, she answered, I was hiding behind a bush because a car was coming by, I slipped. How did you get me down? He didn’t say anything. She hesitated, this was very weird. She decided to change the subject, do you always go around naked? He didn’t even flinch at that. I do sometimes, he answered, when the feeling hits me just right. Why were you hiding from a car? To avoid people like you, she snapped at him. He just shrugged. There was a flapping of wings and a whoosh of air, she screamed and turned to the sound behind her, another man stood there, flawless in his physique as Acacia was. Sorry to startle you, he said in a deep voice, smooth as whipped butter. Another whoosh and a sound to her right, she didn’t even flinch. Hello, came a soprano. Acacia walked into her view again, This is William, he motioned to the deep voiced one and Timothy, he motioned to the last one. Tamara looked toward the way his hand motioned. Another naked man, he looked Italian. What the hell is going on! she screamed, naked man convention? Acacia chuckled again, you are among friends I assure you. I told you not to save her, Timothy said, didn‘t I tell you she would be ungrateful.

A smile touched his eyes and he winked at her. We have a car not far from here, Acacia said, we can take you to your destination. He walked over to a stump that Tamara hadn’t noticed, picked up a piece of clothing she recognized as one of those form fitting boxers and slipped them on. Tamara felt herself get wet at the sight, something stirred in her groin area, she blushed again and was thankful it was dark, none of them would have noticed. The others were dressing and Acacia asked her again where she wanted them to take her to. Who are you guys? Acacia, I need to know before I ride anywhere with you. I have a home not to far from here, Acacia said, you can go there if you want an answer. If not, we will drop you off and you can go your way. She looked into his eyes searching. She had an unfounded trust in him He was like a man she had fantasized about often in her life. He was exactly like the man she thought would come and sweep her off her feet. And the trust she felt, trust that she didn‘t understand. Also, there was something going on here that seemed to verge on supernatural, and she wanted to know what. Again their gaze lingered for a short time into each others eyes. Fine, she told her self, she would go with them to their home, after all she didn’t believe in the supernatural. Her thoughts moved toward new technology, they must be testing some new technology, they were doing amazing things with technology. May be enhancement through gene therapy. I want to know more about you guys, I‘ll go with you to your home, she wanted to get to know this man better. This is going to sound like a cliché, Acacia said, but are you sure you really want to? It will change you forever, Acacia warned her. Will it stop me from getting to my appointments tomorrow? He shook his head, shouldn’t. I have a rental car on the road up there some where, would you help me with it later? She asked. Sure, he said, we’ll get on it in the morning.

They had been walking together, following the other two, they walked up a slight incline, Acacia swept a limb out of their way that she hadn’t been able to see. A few minuets later he led her around a large rock, she hadn’t seen either. She looked at him as they walked, how had he seen the limb and the rock when she hadn’t, it must be gene therapy she concluded. They walked out into a clearing, the car is here he said, gesturing with his hand. He led her toward a limo parked in a small area beside the road. There were six doors in the side of the limo, he opened a rear door for her and went around to the other side. She slipped into the luxurious black leather seat as he slid in beside her, that was when she noticed his eyes. They were a deep color, but she couldn’t tell what color, they seemed to shift colors in the limo’s lamp. The other two slipped into a seat in front of them. Tamara made out a driver as he switched on the engine and the lights came on. You seem to have gotten over your fright, you need a drink or anything? You have a water? She asked. To answer her, he opened a small refrigerator door to the left of them. She took the water from his proffered hand, as she did his hand brushed hers and she shivered as an electric tingle moved up her spine. You cold he asked? No, she answered, no, not in this weather. Where do you live, he asked. You said a rental car, you live far? Arizona, close to the middle, she said purposely being vague in her description. That’s not to far, had you just started your trip? Yea, headed for New Mexico. My place is about ten minuets ahead, he said, we’ll be there shortly. She decided to try finding out about him again. You are a real mystery, do you work for the government? No, I have a business of my own. Profitable I would say, judging from the limo and driver. Some what, he agreed. Here it is, he said, they turned down a lane, and in the limo’s light she caught a glimpse of a large modern estate through a break in the trees. They rounded a turn in the lane and drove up in front of a beautiful well lit mansion.

This is beautiful, she said admiringly as she exited the limo. An elderly man open the large front doors as they approached. Welcome home sir, he said, nodding toward Acacia. Thanks Brent. Brent could you prepare a small meal and drinks and serve them in the library. Certainly sir, he answered turning and walked out of the room. Acacia led Tamara, hooking his arm in hers. You can clean up in there, he said, motioning to a door. I’m going in there to freshen up, he said, motioning toward another door, if you need anything I’ll be in there, he pointed again toward the door, then I’ll wait for you back here, he pointed to where they were standing. The light caught his eyes again, they looked scarlet colored but she couldn’t see for sure. You will find almost anything you need, he added, so feel free. Thanks, she said, as she walked through the door and closed it. Inside she found a opulent bath, and a large walk in closet. She leaned against the wall for a moment to think, she didn’t feel threatened, actually the opposite, she felt safe. She inspected the closet and found various items she could wear. She saw the shower in the corner and decided to have a quick shower. So she slipped out of her clothes, and into a huge shower, quickly showered and headed for the closet. She found a gorgeous evening gown, looked it over tempted, then placed it back. Came across a nice top and some jeans and chose them. She also found some under clothes with the tags on them and was dressed in no time. True to his word he was standing, waiting for her outside of the door. He took her hand, the same tingle ran up her spine, it felt good and a little foreboding at the same time, she shivered again. The others are waiting in the library for us, shall we go? Yes, she said breathlessly as he proffered his arm.

William and Timothy were talking and laughing over drinks when Acacia opened the door to the library and led Tamara in. Ah, there you are, they said to Acacia. They each bowed over Tamara’s hand, kissing it in the old fashioned way. Tamara smiled, she loved the way they treated her as a lady. You are looking very nice, William said in that deep smooth voice of his. Thank you, Tamara said. There was a small cart with plates and utensils, and chaffing dishes filled to the brim with meats and salads and some bread. Help yourself, Acacia said to her, motioning toward the cart. Thanks, she answered, and followed Timothy as he moved about the cart placing items onto a plate, Acacia close behind her. They all settled into a setting area. Acacia seated himself by her and spoke as he ate. She noticed that the other two listened intently. First my full name is Acacia Sebastian Romani, I am just short of nine hundred years old and I have an interest in you in the form of a proposition. She started to protest, he shushed her with a finger over her mouth. I will prove it all in good time, he said. William and Timothy were watching her intently. Here touch my skin, he held his hand out to her. She touched it and that tingle went down her spine again. No here rub it. She rubbed the back of his hand, she shivered again with the tingle that ran down and then up her spine. She looked up at him, your skin has a weird texture. She touched his face. It’s that way all over? Yes, it’s dragon skin when we are in the human form. She laughed at him for a second then stopped, it made sense. Dragon, she said feeling it in her mouth, letting it slide off her tongue? Yes we, he pointed to the other two, we are dragons. I don’t believe in dragons, she said. Well not believing in a thing doesn’t make it any less true. We are form shifters. It takes a tremendous amount of energy to change, that is why we eat now to replace the energy we used out there to change. That, he went on, is also the reason why we were naked, we would ruin our clothing if we didn’t remove them. I took you from the side of the hill in my talons when it looked very likely you were going to fall and hurt yourself. I saved your life, and could, only because I could fly. Give me an hour, and I will have rested it is better, I’ll have more strength to change for you. He paused for a moment as if giving something deep thought. He spoke again. There is something else I want from you. What is that? She asked. This is going to sound very strange and there are a lot of details I will have to tell you later, and they will help you make your decision. I do not want you to be put off by my request but the basic thing is this, I would like you to bear my child. What! she jumped up. You are an ass, she exclaimed shaking her finger at him, I don’t even know you! I told you to let her fall, Timothy said. Tamara was embarrassed, he had just asked her to have sex with him in front of his friends. You are jerks she said, all of you. You may have saved my life, but that doesn’t give you the right to treat me like a cheap whore, to be treated how ever you please, just because I came to your home with you. They were all staring at her. You are right, Acacia said, that was calloused. I’m sorry Tamara, but we are so desperate. Let me explain farther.

We as dragons only mate to bear children every twelve years. My time is almost up this cycle. William and Timothy barely made it in time for this cycle. When I saw you hanging there and knew if I helped you, I would already be exposing my self to you for what I am, I hoped that you might be willing to let me proposition you and that you might consider being a mother to my child. I can see now I was mistaken, his eyes clouded and his head dropped a little. I can make you financially comfortable, but I would prefer not to have you by bribe. I was hoping you would be willing because of love, that if we had time to get to know each other you could come to care about me. You don’t have to decide today, we could get to know each other, maybe you could learn to love me, he was pleading. William spoke, You have to do it willingly, knowing what we are and still be willing. You don’t know how hard it is, when most women see us in our dragon form they run away, very few say yes. I would love you until the day you die and take care of you, I have the means and the heart for that, Acacia said. Tamara was staring at her hands, I have a question, Tamara said. Ask it, Acacia prompted her. Do you always talk to your girl friends in front of your guy friends like this, because that might be a lot of your problem. They all looked at each other, Acacia spoke, well yes because this concerns all of us and we are comfortable being open about it. You will eventually have to be comfortable about it also, Acacia went on, as there is something else that you have to know before you say yes. We would have gotten to it if you were agreeable with what we have already told you, but here it is a head of time. Acacia took a deep breath, we will be mating in front of the circle, and by circle that is all the dragons of our group. Tamara coved her face with her hands, trying to shut everything else out. After a few moments of her arguing with her self in her mind on how stupid she was and what will these, these what ever they were think of her, she came instantly to a decision.

Ok, she said, then I want to see your other shape to prove you are not just pulling my chain. Tamara was bad about making spur of the moment decisions, she did it often in her opinion, and she was kicking herself even now about it but she couldn’t seem to stop. Acacia looked at William, will you check and make sure Brent is sleeping, William nodded affirmative and left. When he gets back, and if Brent is asleep, we will go outside in the back and I will change to my dragon form for you. After a few minuets William came back and said Brent was sleeping soundly. They all followed Acacia to the patio where he stripped off his clothing and walked out onto the lawn. William leaned over to her and said, this happens fast and no matter how many times I have seen it, it is still amazing. As Tamara without blinking watched, there was a whoosh and a cloud of what looked like smoke moved out from Acacia, after mere seconds it cleared, and a dragon was standing where Acacia had stood, resting on it‘s haunches. Tamara involuntarily stepped back. That’s him? She asked William. Yes. You can go to him and touch him if you like, he wont care. Tamara moved toward the dragon, when she was close enough, she placed her hand on it’s side rubbing the blood red scales. The head came around to look at her close, the pupils of the eyes looked as if a coal of fire was deep inside them and they glowed with a mesmerizing light. The ears resembled a cats with tufts of hair at the top. The back legs were large, ending in clawed feet. Smoke from the nostrils of the dragon got into her eyes causing them to water. She moved toward the tail. It was thick at the haunches, and thinned rapidly to a double barbed point. The dragon moved it’s tail and brought the point up to tickle her under one arm. She swatted it away giggling. She moved back to the head and noticed Timothy watching her intently. What? she asked him, as she rubbed the side of the head, the scales were small and softer feeling there. I was thinking maybe he was right, Timothy said. Right about what? She asked. About you, he said. He told us you were special. He’s beautiful, she said. The dragon gave her a little kiss on the cheek, she slapped him away. She walked up between his front legs, they were more like arms and hands then legs. She
