    Christian Confessions - Antoinette Cole

    FAITH

To climb mountains: Take us to

the highest peak, give a ladder

and we will go climb the tallest

tree to the depth of his clouds,

    for they are our guide.

Put thy on the Atlantic Ocean to

    her very beginning where all

nature swims. We will go to the

end of the current with no

ropes of boats clinging on thee.

Let’s go to nursing homes, and

hospitals where all are ill may

be dying, , and on death’s door.

    Given them the healing words

saying, all will turn out well.

Let’s take hold of his garment and

take us to travels in unfamiliar

places; no home or family by thy

way-side, for it is his guidance

we shall trust on the way.

    AGAPE

    Unconditional love with no

    Strings attached; arms stretched

Wide as open skies. I turned away

Shape me in the hand of potter’s

Clay; smooth out the muck from

    My wicked eyes; cleanse my

Heart of oil to soft soil.

    My every dangerous way of

    Thinking thy transformed

To a new religion. In sinking

Sand I was dying; my head

    Lay crying.

A wind comes across my face,

A memory I will never ever

Erase. For I ran to him in a

Faster pace, holding on to his

    Agape grace.

    MOTHER’S PRAYER

In my womb you were formed, conceived in

This world of envy and violence. My

Constant prayer is that each breath you inhale

Won’t be the last. The strolls you take will go

Through a narrow path and hoping the end

Steps you make won’t be the last.

Staying on my knees with prayer asking

God to protect you when you are not in

My presence, provide the needed shelter for

You when you have left home, and be your

Breastplate when I am not around.

When you have grown up, all I can do is

Remember how you fell and you gave
