About this ebook

Pray without ceasingContinue steadfastly in prayerPraying always with all perseverance and supplication for all saints
Christians are commanded to pray and are promised that their prayers will be powerful and effective.
Then why do so many of us fail to pray regularly and why do our prayers seem to go unanswered?

In Luke chapter eleven, when the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, He gave them the pattern God requires from us when we pray. Using the Word of God, Teach us to Pray follows this pattern for you in ten daily prayer sessions.Teach us to Pray the Bible Way is not a commentary about prayer; it is prayer itself. It is our Lords own pattern given to His disciples. Use this book to familiarize yourself with the proper pattern of Biblical prayer. To receive the most benefit for your prayer life, use the book every day, speak the scripture verses and the words of prayer as your own and, most importantly, dont give up. Prayer works and, like breathing, must be continuous to have the most benefit. May God bless you as you seek Him with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective

Teach Us to Pray: The Bible Way
Author

Bob Bashawaty

I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart as my Savior and Lord in 1981. I was given the spiritual gift of teaching and have taught through all the books of the New Testament as well as several Old Testament books. I've read, taught and practiced the Biblical pattern of prayer and felt moved by God to put what I have learned into print. I grieve when I hear Christians complain that they don't sense God's presence and that He doesn't seem to answer their prayers. Most often it because they don't pray properly and my deepest hope is that "Teach us to Pray" will become a valualbe and beneficial resource to help develope a dynamic prayer life. I live in Plymouth Michigan with my wife Doris, our cat Simba and our German Shepherd Rajah. We have a daughter who is the foster parent of two beautiful baby girls. I attend Harvest Bible Chapel in Westland where I have served as an Elder/Teacher for the past seven years

The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but he trembles when we pray.

    The Purpose of This Book

The purpose of this book is to teach you to pray the Bible way. In Luke chapter eleven one of the disciples said unto Jesus, Lord, teach us to pray and Jesus said, Say this and he led them word for word through the Lord’s Prayer. This amazing prayer includes the elements of adoration, confession, thanksgiving and supplication (A.C.T.S.) and establishes for us the Biblical pattern that God desires for prayer. This book is intended to lead you through those elements of prayer while still allowing you to make the prayer personal. As we follow this pattern we will use a great deal of scripture which is like praying to God in His language. You might ask, Is that really praying? It is if you make the words you say your own. Just like when we sing songs of praise written by others, we make them our own because they’re sung from the heart, so also, when we pray using the scripture, we don’t just read the words; we make those words our own. That’s the miracle of prayer.

When thoughts and words are turned toward God, you have direct access to God. So to experience the greatest benefit from these times of prayer, it’s important that you keep your mind focused. Recite the words of scripture in each section and contemplate their meaning.* Then offer them up to God in prayer or, if they speak to your heart and stimulate your thoughts, offer those thoughts to God as a personal prayer. And finally, be honest with yourself and with God during the time of confession so your heart is truly right before God. Prayer is such a privilege as we enter into the very throne room of God and speak directly with him. So I encourage you to take this time seriously. Set aside all distractions and give your full attention to the Lord who is worthy. My sincere desire is that you will develop a consistent habit of prayer with God according to the pattern that Jesus gave us. May God bless you.

    * Many of the Psalms of adoration are in the third person. To make these scriptures more personal, they have been changed to the first person. These verses will be
