About this ebook

Jesus said that He knows His sheep by name. He says we are like sheep gone astray. Master Shepherd takes Sallmans familiar scene and given the sheep imaginary lives and situations similar to what we may encounter on our earthly journey. The answers He gives and the great love and forgiveness He bestows are found for us in Scripture. So look and identify faithful Seth, angry Mitch, abused Bonnie, proud Herman, and busy Irma. Mourn with Sue, care like Tabatha.

There are many more kinds of sheep we might identify with or know. We certainly are not sheep, but we need the presence, love, forgiveness and grace He promised to us. Believe!

    Preface

This is not intended or claiming to be a work of Theology. For I am not a college graduate. You might call me a student of a long life and all that it teaches us along the way.

I prefer to write for children, so that may explain the imagery. Maybe it’s just a way of looking at ourselves as we interact with those we happen to share our life’s journey with.

When our short time is done, what will our lives have counted for?

After many years with these questions, I just had to do this

    Introduction

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23

This Psalm is familiar to the Christian and the unbeliever, especially in times of stress and loss of a loved one. If people know only one Psalm, this is it. It is such a caring, secure statement of David the shepherd, who longed for someone to praise, guide and meet his needs. Early in David’s life, his focus was upon the sheep, later he would call upon God in much more difficult circumstances. David was being grounded and secured in trust of God’s presence, peace, power and love. He poured out his heart in song to God in
