Infidelity
Reva glanced about her well-decorated bedroom. She wondered when her parent’s would cease arguing nightly. The young girl also wondered if they would remain together or get a divorce.
Mr. Reeves, Reva’s father, was a very promiscuous ,womanizer. One who practice his habit without regard for his family. He stayed out late most nights. Mr. Reeves also purchased very expensive gifts for his lady friends; with money from the family budget. Hence, there were times when the family budget was very low. Mrs. Reeves would sell stock from her job at the college; to supplement.
The Reeves lived in a very small town; in The Carolinas. Where Mr. Reeves was a manager for a chemical company. His wife was a music professor at the local college.
Um, the oldest of the Reeve’s three daughters, was a senior in high school. Kindel, the second oldest daughter, was a junior at the same high school. Of course, Reva was the youngest daughter. An eighth grader at the local middle school.
Hence, in-spite of their fathers behavior, the girls with their mothers prodding were all honor students. For they used school as an outlet to buff the discord at their home.
Mrs. Reeves often forgave her husband’s infidelity. For she took her marriage vows very seriously. Of course, some of her actions were due to denial; of anything being incorrect with her marriage.
A well pressed, well dressed man; Mr. Reeves straight, dark brown, well trimmed hair accentuated his tanned skin very well. His hazel eyes would sparkle when flirting with the ladies. The nationality did not phase Mr. Reeves. It merely excited him to another level.
Mrs. Reeves was just the opposite. She was a devoted wife. One who spent money for clothes only if needed. Her primary interest were to be a good wife, and a loving, caring mother. Mrs. Reeves wore shoddy cotton, floral dresses. Her shoes were usually wore, but polished. Her curly, black somewhat straight hair, was always in a bun.
The Reeves fought so much, sometimes Reva wished she could be adopted. Of course, Reva never told anyone concerning her parent’s fighting. For fear of being punished.
One summers night as Reva was playing with her crayons and dolls. She heard a horrible scream come from her parent’s bedroom. Reva ran quickly to see what was going on.
Once in her parent’s bedroom, the young, horrified girl saw three people in the bedroom. Her mom, her dad and a very skimpy clad woman. Who is this woman?
Reva’s little mind wondered.
Mr. Reeves had brought home a prostitute. The incident had shocked Mrs. Reeves so badly she had screamed, Get that woman out of here you fool.
Reva ran frantically back to her bedroom. The tiny, scared girl covered her puzzled head, with her lace pink and white bedspread.
Mrs. Reeves shoved her drunk husband to the front door. The prostitute followed Mr. Reeves. They together staggered into the night. Then in time drove off to the hotel.
Um and Kindle came home at midnight. Reva hurriedly ran and told what had happened.
The lady was in mother’s bedroom. Daddy and the lady with almost no clothes on,
Reva said nearly hyperventilating.
Mrs. Reeves came from the bedroom weeping and informed her older daughters. The girls were livid.
"We
