Love, Grief, Hope: One Woman's Journey Through Life
By Ann Bilott

About this ebook
I have shared my poems with a very select few of my friends and it was their encouragement that pushed me to publish my thoughts. I feel that writing has led me to hope and hope has such a cumulative effect in all of our lives. My writing is extracted from life experiences that are common to all of us. So take a breath and say it's never too late to nurture your spirit, that's what my poems have done for me, I hope they do the same for you.
Ann Bilott
I am a retired teacher and widow. The adjustment to living alone after such a long time was quite difficult. I found that writing my thoughts helped me to process the layers of grief that I felt. During my grieving for my husband, my mother died and I started the process all over again. Writing poetry has always been my private obsession. For me, writing is part of my daily existence, a thread running through all my experiences, circumstances, changes. I find that I cannot separate one from the other. Writing poetry is like breathing to me, it has become a way for me to put my experiences and feelings in perspective, to discover myself, to create a new me. Finding my voice has helped me to speak my own truths.

V00_9781452071411_TEXT-7.jpgIt seems we have
No control whatsoever
Over our own hearts.
Love can make the heart pound
Like panic can,
And panic can make
You stop dead
In your tracks.
I’m trying to keep my heart
Slow, steady, regular
To keep it from jumping
Out of my chest over you.
Because what I feel
For you is something else entirely,
And I am panic-stricken
Because I don’t know
How to deal with it.
Being in love is such a high
You’re always inside my mind.
I can’t breathe
