About this ebook

No one should have to experience the death of a child, but many go through the deep pain and anguish. There are no words that can describe the ache and agony. This book is short, but precise, and written to guide those who have lost a child and in the process of dealing with grief. The book also gives pointers and advice for those who are willing to reach out and help others through one of the most difficult experiences a human being can walk through. This book is a must-read for those who are suffering from the loss of a child as well as anyone who helps to minister to those grieving. It may also be used as a tremendous tool in a group therapy class or setting. You will find this book to be very open, honest, transparent, and candid in nature.

    Foreword

    Dear friends:

It is with sadness that I write a foreword for a book such as this. It means that the one who has written it understands the loss of a child, and it means that those who most likely will read this book have experienced something similar. For that, I am deeply sorry. Having lost our thirty-two-year-old daughter in the fall of 2009, my wife and I have gone through some of the same experiences as Dale and Millie Rose.

Please read this book. It is filled with helpful suggestions to help move past the deep loss into a place of hope and help. There are too many trite platitudes used by so many in the Christian world for those who have experienced grief and loss. Rather than being a list of trite platitudes, this book contains scriptural help, practical assistance, and good common sense to help people move past the deep grief of initial loss into a time of using loss for the glory of God.

Someone once said that grief is like waves on the ocean shore. They never stop, but over time they decrease in frequency as well as intensity. Perhaps, this is so. I believe this book will help you dealing with the waves of grief that continue to come. Thank you to Dale and Millie Rose for sharing their story and attempting to do something practical to help the body of Christ.

Please read this and be ready to find a touch from the Lord as well as practical help for your heart.

    Sincerely,

    Frank S. Page, PhD

    Preface

My first writing was at seven months after Derek’s death, and I wrote mostly for self-therapy. At nineteen months, we were compiling it into book format, and we edited for four years. Seven years have rapidly sped by since our son’s untimely death at the age of thirty-one. He died of a heart attack in his sleep. Ministry and our various businesses keep us extremely busy, but I know why it has been most difficult. Each time I start writing and
