In the Still of the Night - Judith A. Carter
Tonight i longed for you
Tonight I longed for you
For the gentleness of your touch
Whispering tenderly in my ear
Our affair lasted many years
Though never becoming one
Love was made many times
Hearts combined, we understand
We have a meshing of the minds
I longed for you another night
Caressed with your seducing kisses
Your eyes tell me what’s been held inside
Tell me the secrets of your heart
Share with me your soul
Imagine us years to come
Imagine us growing old
I long to be loved, just by one
I long for it to be you
How do I make a journey back
To a place I’ve never been
And tell me how to re-unite
With a lover, with a friend
Tonight I know I longed for you
As I shut my eyes to sleep
What you shared from your heart
Are treasures I’ll always keep
I’ll ponder thoughts in my mind
Wondering what’s next to do
I’ll ponder these thoughts in my mind
As I lay and long for you
The Mercy Seat
One day I sat and pondered a thought
Trying not to think more than I ought
The sky was gray because a storm was at bay
I was lost in the abyss of my thoughts that day
I did not understand why I felt so lost
I was alone, but not alone
And at what cost?
I lost myself somewhere along the way
I’m searching for the right path
Trying not to stray
I remembered a prayer
Serenity
it’s called
I saw it hanging there on the wall
The prayer said:
"God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change" . . .
Oh yeah, I remember, my, how strange ~
Courage to change the things I can
. . .
I wish I had remembered this way back when ~
And wisdom to know the difference
. . .
Oh, how my life’s changed in an instant.
God, I said, help me if you will
This battle of mine seems all uphill
I’m looking to see where I can go
I need your help, because I just don’t know
My child, I believe I heard the Lord say
The questions you want are on the way
I know you feel lost, but I assure you you’re
