Edward S. Peterka
Dr. Peterka is a dermatologist from Galesburg, Illinois. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdepartmental Studies from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota with minors in philosophy, history, mathematics, physics, and abnormal psychology graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his M.D. and M.S. degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis Minnesota. Dr. Peterka is a Past District Governor of Rotary International and a Past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He married his wife Jean when a junior in medical school, and after 47 years of marriage, they have five children and seven grandchildren.

It is a known medical fact that great sorrow or grief such as the loss of a loved one lowers a person’s immunity. They become susceptible to infections and other ailments. When they are hospitalized they are told to watch comedies such as the Three Stooges on the hospital T.V. With laughter, they improve and their grief acquired depressed immunity is restored. This book is a prescription for laughter.

I had been teaching my three-year-old daughter, Tammy, the Lord’s Prayer for several evenings at bedtime. She would repeat after me the lines from the prayer. Finally, she decided to go solo. I listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word right up to the end of the prayer: Lead us not into temptation,
