Wounded Heart ~ Healing God
I stood silently at my kitchen sink washing a small plate that held the remnants of a half-eaten scrambled egg I’d tried to force down for dinner, when I heard the phone ring. I really wasn’t feeling much like talking but hesitantly I answered, Hello?
Are you home?
I heard my friend’s enthusiastic voice ask. Yes, I’m home.
I replied. Good, because I’m on my way over
, she said; I won’t be there long but I should arrive in less than five minutes. Come to the front door.
What’s this all about?
I asked.
Just wait, I’m almost there.
She replied.
I walked to the dining room window and stared out toward the long road that led to the top of my driveway. I didn’t really feel much like company but my friend didn’t sound like she was going to take no for an answer. I just wanted to be left alone, to stew in my own sadness and sense of loss. I didn’t want to think. I didn’t want to feel. I didn’t want to try and engage in conversation. I didn’t know what I wanted. I just knew that nothing was going to replace what I had lost and nothing was ever going to make me feel better about myself again.

He’d been gone over five months now but it still felt like it had happened only yesterday.
Looking beyond the trees, shrubs and flowers that blanketed our yard, thoughts of our life together kept running through my mind like water over the bumpy rocks in a river stream. So much good I thought, every one has rough times in their lives, but for the
