The Problem with Believing God: A Personal Guide to Increase Your Faith

About this ebook
- LOGIC REFUTES HIM.
- MATH CANNOT CALCULATE HIM.
- HISTORY CANNOT ADEQUATELY TRACK HIM.
- LANGUAGE DOES NOT ACCURATELY DEFINE HIM.
- ART DOES NOT COMPLETELY DEPICT HIM.
- SCIENCE CANNOT EXPLAIN HIM.
The Problem With Believing God will help you during those times when you do not know what to believe, how to believe, and even wrestle with whether you should bother to believe at all. Believing is still the prescriptive solution for receiving the blessings and the promises of God. Believing is our only avenue back to a redemptive relationship with God. Only those who dare to believe God will ever learn to please God; for "without faith, it is impossible to please God" (Hebrews 11:6).
Bishop Alfred A. Owens Jr.
Gregory Brad Cutler, an ordained elder, was originally licensed through the Mount Calvary Holy Church of America, Inc. He serves in ministry at Judah Christian Center in Suitland, MD under the pastorate of Marvin and Veda McCoy. At Judah, he is the founding dean of the church's Disciple Training Institute and the Lead Elder over Christian Education. Cutler, a 4-time author, holds a Bachelor's degree from Howard University and a Doctorate in Jurisprudence from Georgia State University. His professional career in higher education spans over 20 years and includes several years of teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Howard University. His acumen as a gifted orator has yielded him opportunities on and off camera. He is the founder and administrator of the G B Cutler Academic Scholarship, which is awarded to a minority student who exemplifies service, leadership, and academic excellence. His "faith walk" began at the age of 13, and since that time he has amassed an indescribable appreciation for God's grace and a genuine love for all people. This eastern NC native has developed a mantra that says no matter what life presents, "I'm determined to see God's hand in it."

The Problem with Believing God - Bishop Alfred A. Owens Jr.
Invocation
Heavenly Father, I pray – in the name of Jesus – that for every reader of this book, your Spirit will be invoked. And as each page is turned, I pray that their faith is increased. I believe, dear God, that there is no shortage of miracles in the shed blood of your Son, Jesus. So I ask now, that you would miraculously transform these pages into an anointed canvas and cause the power of your Word to spring forth, fall on good ground, and take root. In a world where the mechanics of believing defy the rules of logic, I pray that men, women, boys, and girls will be compelled to surrender their lives to you. And for every person who picks up this book, I pray that you would trouble them until their faith pleases you. For every soul that shall be redeemed, and for every heart that shall be encouraged, I give you praise. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Acknowledgments
To my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whose blood redeemed me into a relationship with the God who makes every opportunity possible and who does all things well.
To my family, who love, respect, and support me; and who entreat me as the gift
that God gave to them. Thanks for embracing me the way you do and for reminding me that my assignment
spans multiple generations and transcends family ties.
To all of my nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and godchildren, my love and prayers go further than you are able to comprehend.
To my aunts Queenie Cutler and Florence Catherine
Boone, you have taught me more about faith through your actions than many could ever teach me with their words.
To the newest love of my life, my granddaughter
Jocelyn Nicole Robinson, you constantly remind me that God is still on the throne.
To my pastor and co-pastor (Marvin & Veda McCoy), thank you for your prayers, support, and encouragement. Thank you for entrusting me with a part of the vision that God gave to you and for enabling me to carry out part of the vision that He has given me.
To my Judah Christian Center Church family, I’m strengthened by your prayers.
To my friend and brother, Elder Bobby Dunmore, thank you for always listening and laboring in the gospel with me. In times gone by, we would have been Paul & Silas or Peter & John.
To Bishop Alfred Owens and Co-Pastor Susie Owens, thank you for more than 25 years of parental oversight and support.
To Dr. C. B. Akins and First Lady Akins (First Baptist Bracktown - Kentucky), you encouraged me more in one weekend than some have in a lifetime. I’ve never forgotten you.
To my friend and brother, Minister Earnest Pugh, while sharing your gifts with the world, thanks for being a sounding board and encouraging me on this project.
To Bishop Earl Wortham, thank you for providing spiritual counsel as I struggled with completing this book.
To my Howard University friend and schoolmate, Dr. Dwight Berry, thank you for lending your photography skills to give me a new look.
To everybody back home in Arapahoe, NC; Pamlico County; and eastern N.C.; thanks for always believing in me.
To all the people – some who now sleep – that taught me to love God, even as a youngster. May your seed forever produce fruit.
To all the pastors and churches who opened your doors, pulpits, and hearts. Thanks for giving me a chance.
To all the people who said, Pray for me,
or I’m praying for you.
Thanks for reminding me about the power of prayer.
To all the people who are honest enough to confess that they have struggled with believing God. May God honor your honesty and increase your faith beyond measure.
To every person who will read this book and will dare to give God a devoted life and watch Him work out His plan. May you soon discover that God is thinking about you RIGHT NOW!
Dedication
To my mother:
Annie Elizabeth Boone Cutler
You forever remind me that God’s hand is upon my life. And in so doing, you encourage me to acknowledge Him in all of my ways and to take courage in knowing that He shall direct my path. For all of those times when I struggle with knowing my purpose, thank you for reminding me
