About this ebook

Commander Neil Gavens and his crew are in search of a new planet after all hope for a life on the planets Earth and Sigmet is exhausted. With six potential planets in range, Gavens wonders which one might be habitableuntil his crew stumbles upon a strange planet comprised of purple water and vegetation. As Gavens lands his spaceship on what he hopes will be their new residence, he commands his crew to find the people of the planet. But the Earth-ites have no idea that the resident aliens who watch them from afar are already preparing for battle.

The planets unusual colors are unlike any the crew has ever encountered. As the Earth-ites conduct tests and create a temporary habitat, the aliens devise ways to keep the crew from staying on Eftiam. The Earth-ites unexpected discovery soon creates a puzzling form of warfare, amazing organic technology, and telepathic powers, allowing Gavens and his crew to form a bond with the all-seeing Imo Macos.

For too long, the aliens have not had anythingor anyoneinterfere with their world. But the Earth-ites are determined to make Eftiam their new home. Only time will tell if the aliens will allow them to stay.

    Commander, you asked me to let you know when we spotted a possible planet, The box squealed.

    Well? He grumbled with irritably…

    Sir, it sort of has Earth similarities, Again the box coughed.

    "Are you speaking old or new? The Commander asked, turning from his desk chair while reaching to his bunk for his hat to cover his curly sandy head. People have such misconceptions about space travel. Definitely not the comfort one would expect as seen of the Old Star Trek epics, or from short flight sightseeing tours around Earth; more like an old naval submarine or battleship in comparison, but getting much better.

    Sir?

    Be right there First, you know the procedure.

    Yes Sir.

    Rising from the chair, the gravity loss made him move as if on the ocean floor but without the weight of dive gear. Gravity shoes kept him from free floating, lifting one foot slowly after the other. He maneuvered the walkway awkwardly, his broad six two frame adding to his awkward movements. Glad no one was offering salutes, Neil’s thoughts were vexed on the six planets in this present galaxy and wondering which might be habitable. It seemed even stranger that aliens hadn’t attempted contact. Alien ships were seen on screen, but were apparently not curious enough to even signal. This bothered him more than he let on. Entering the navigation center, ‘Attention,’ was broadcast across the room, and the crew jumped to their feet as gravity allowed.

    Ensign, I told you that isn’t necessary here, The commander scowled head-on into his face.

    Sorry Sir, hard to break habits.

    Yes Sir.

    "At ease; he spoke without turning from First …Idiot … Now, which world seems habitable for our people?" The Commander asked.

    * comdat—computer

    This one Sir. Leaning out around the Commander; the Ensign pointed to the very last planet of the six on screen, which took up one full wall. Slowly turning away from the Ensign, now sweating visibly, he nevertheless enjoyed the spatial roominess of the nav center, where all central functions took place. Wireless comdat* systems seemed to be everywhere. Truly, this was a new age, with the smallest of micro fibers allowing such intricate yet invisible linkage of systems. Yes, he was fortunate to command a new age ship and he held his chest out letting all know he was proud which assured his crew, they too could do the same.

    Close in projectile, As it came up to a full view singling out the planet, Ah… seems to be a color distortion, The Commander voiced.

    No sir, no distortion, Number one expressed.

    Purple? It’s fuck’en purple?

    Yes Sir, three different shades. Sendra offered giggling.

    Logistics? As he listened carefully, he couldn’t help displaying a huge smile. Now chuckling, Better set a course for this new world. HQ won’t believe its color. Take pictures, although we’ll wait awhile before we relate the full skinny on her."

    The small monitor flashed, showing a mature grey haired man with the same blue uniform as Neil, but with extra bars on his red collar, Neil, how’re you?

    Fine Wayne, I think we finally found one. He hated these conversations taking three fourths of his day due to relay lapse. Most of the time the TV-aped it and sent it without the long delay intervals of speech. At least he could do other things in his cubby as the relay transmission flashed on and off.

    Wonderful; beginning to think we wouldn’t reap another find. It’s been almost three years. Haven’t gone stir crazy yet?" Admiral Berry asked with concern.

    This new encounter will keep us occupied, hoping his voice didn’t reveal his desperation to jump ship. Gathering more data and setting a course as we speak. You should be getting the data soon. We’re a light year away from the planet. Say hello to everyone for us, over and out."

    * Sigmet—planet now inhabited by planet Earth

    I’ll be in quarters, please notify me of any changes. We couldn’t relay in a days time five years ago. Technology changes so fast. We should have enough food and fuel to sustain us, before we have to double back to Sigmet* supply ships for foods and fuel. He set to work on the newest information the crew gathered on this planet and checked with Bre’ for any overlooked areas.

    *

    Feelings were electric within the ship as they entered this atmosphere of the new planet, enough for warriors to feed off for months. Commander, a closer visual, Sendra’s voice squawked from the box. They sure can’t seem to fix the squawkers!

    Bré, any animal habitation?

    Many species of birds, animals and other life, Neil, Bré responded.

    Human or Alien, Bré?

    I know there are life forms here. There are remains of an old decayed structure on the surface. Breathable oxygen, plants are edible and may have further value. Would you like that analysis?

    Ignoring Bré, Neil pondered aloud, "More likely they live

    Underground or if above, it’s unreadable due to protective shielding materials. The habitation is closely relative to ours. Staring at the monitor, Whoa…, the discrepancy is strange… she sure is purple; this’ll take some getting used to. Took care of my worries about food, but fuel may be another story.

    Sendra, butted in, A definite lavender, lilac and royal purple seem its planetary colors, Sir.

    I forgot to turn off the box. As he turned toward the box, You say its breathable air, Bré´?

    * Eftiar—father, family head guide name, *land *Efiar–daughter, family guide name, *sioutous—large spaceship,*Eftiam—planet of multiple shades of purple, *ites—person or people, *scoutbot—small aircraft holding a small amount of people to go from a large aircraft to land or water

    Yes Neil.

    But if the air is quality, wouldn’t they be above ground, Sir? First queried, stepping into Neil’s quarters…

    "That depends on species adaptability. Make ready to deploy a search party of five, Number one. Take scoutbot* two-away."

    Yes Sir. First turned and left.

    Bré, thanks for not going into a long description.

    You are welcome. I placed it into my memory banks, you do not like long drawn out description, just facts, Neil.

    What would I do without you, Bré?

    You could not, Neil.

    She’s getting smarter it seems. Also keep the crew notified of the temps.

    Tears flowed without warning, as sudden passion overcame Efiar’s* thoughts of young years seemed long past; her brow furrowed as she pictured this sioutous* from Earth soon entering Eftiam* atmosphere. Eftiar* will set his ites* for battle. A perfect race? The Imo Macos* have led not us to believe otherwise. Unconsciously she increased her pace. Most Junis* would not land run on the ground, as they hate it, preferring to fuai* despite the slower pace of floating. But Linti never complains. Only period of the dai* except for apt*, is peace of niet*.

    * Juni(s)—service worker(s), *fuai(ing)—float(ing), *dai(s)—Day(s), *niet—mind, *pu—jungle, *apt—sleep *lu—lavender, *lae—lilac, *li—pale lavender, *upu— ocean water

    Efiar’s long limbs, rare in her culture moved her ahead of Linti; a catlike expression appearing only seconds before the furrow replaced itself. Could they adjust to life with us? The jungle beauty of the pu* foliage overtook her once again as she sped faster taking in the depth of color lu* to lae*, lu* then to li*. The rushing sound of the waves told her upu* was around the next bend. Anticipation rose, with the suddenness of the view halting her as a rider who nearly dives headfirst over the saddle with the abrupt stopping of the horse. Taking in the breathless view of the lu coloring of the upu, became lae as it cascaded over the rocks, then toward the heavens, she felt briefly the inner peace that she constantly sought. Ah yes! Truly, Eftiam is more beautiful than any other.

    Linti slowed his pace, breathlessly arriving at her side. Thank you for stopping so I could catch up.

    Laughing, Linti, you usually stride with me, what happened this dai?

    Wiping perspiration from his eyes, his upu jump suit showing salt spots, Efiar, I am your Juni and love my job, but not this part of it.

    "Really? I…this is the only time I have any peace and so love the pu and to smell the salt of the upu. You really need to take some time to enjoy the beauty." Pouting dramatic, I thought you enjoyed our jaunts.

    Linti did not respond instead he glanced at his tia wrist watch, grateful it was nearly tia* for them to return. Slowly they started to land fuai—walk or run on land fuai* along the lu shore this time keeping a slower pace, taking in the expanse of the upu. Suddenly an avi*, inside her head from Eftiar, I need you Efiar! New information about these Earth ites! Why do you insist on this improper action from centuries ago?

    * avi (d)—telepathic wave (d), *siout—small air craft, *havis sig—meditation center to speak with Imo Macos,* tia(s)—time(s)

    "Please Eftiar, not now, not yet…

    It must be now. We will discuss this further on your arrival at our table. Linti get her back here now! he avid to both.

    Rounding the bend to the hovering siout*, where they left it, It is most likely about the Earth ites. If they realize our air is as theirs once was, we will probably do battle.

    Do you think it will come to that? Feeling her inner peace dissipate into the foliage of the pu.

    Only Eftiar can give those answers. I pray the Imo Macos give him guidance to get us through this horrible unsettling. They say there is weaponry aboard this sioutous.

    Weaponry? You are mistaken. They are peaceful ites.

    Linti, bending grasping his knees as he gasps for air, cocks his head to the side taking in Efiar, My Efiar, you should know of this more than I. I do not have access to the havis sig*.

    * sig—domed room

    Barely showing the heavier breathing from their land fuai run, moving to board the siout, Efiar’s hands flippantly waved air bound, making her arms abstract ribbons of distortion, "This is such a joke against our weapons, I pass this into nothingness. Surely, they would not be senseless. Let us go."

    *

    She chose to land fuai, not giving thought to anything or anyone around her. They may destroy upu and air, as they destroyed their own Earth and are now destroying Sigmet. For money and power these ites call it. Eftiar will not allow this to pass. "Yes, yes, Eftiar, I am returning. I feel you avi probing my niet. I will arrive within minis*." Reflectively she smiled knowing Eftiar was the only one to get through her havis*. Soon it will be tia to ef*, the time to mate. Only my true ef can penetrate my havis, besides Eftiar. If not…he must choose for me.

    I do not understand why you choose to land fuai when fuai is much faster and simpler.

    Sometimes I choose not to forget how we began. It enhances my niet* strength, Eftiar. Now can I have some peace until I present myself before you? She noticed a new Juni. He is different, his lu somewhat color deeper, he is taller, more handsome, eyes are the same coloring as Eftiar’s, hmmm, most odd. Eftiar is that you? Silence; looking around, it was only she and the Juni. Did he just smirk? No he cannot get through my havis…Can he? Shrugging her shoulders, she dismissed the interruption entering her privacy sig, her personal dome.

    *

    * mini(s)-minute(s), *ef—Mate, *havis—head gear worn by Guide Telepaths, simi(d)—kiss(ed), *morn—morning, *Efiari—a Guide of Eftiam

    Attired in her new upudo*, which enhanced her slim slight figure with just the tight tones of la and lae in just the right areas, she entered the breakfast sig* area. The table was long, clear and narrow, complimented by twelve tall clear chairs whose backs curved away. Leafy hanging plants from the pu dripped thickly from the dome, in clear artistically flared holders of multiple shapes with varied lighting for accent Where is Efiari*? Standing before her Eftiar, reaching out she gave him her affectionate morn simi*.

    A huge smile replaced his tired expression as he admired his Efiar, Efiar that is a fine upudo, so like your Eftiara* wore, when we first met. Efiari will not be joining us this morn*.

    Thank you, Eftiar, I love it. Eftiar, Efiari and their Juni Linti were her family. In her maturing years, she overheard avis’ of her Eftiara, being la* not lu. This she wondered about for Eftiar would only allow efing with the same coloring; never discussed just accepted. The only avis overheard now from Eftiar were how beautiful she was with those li eyes like her Eftiara and every upudo as beautiful as she had worn.

    * la—royal purple

    Eftiar was worrying about Efiar, asking many questions of late. So beautiful…Yes must prepare for the change to come…"The Earth ites will soon enter our atmosphere. After breakfast let us go into the main havis sig," Alarm showed on Efiar’s face, But first let us enjoy our meal.

    *

    Shaken, having been unable to get food down, she fuaid close behind Eftiar into the corridor. She noticed the new Juni again, His coloring is definitely lae; odd most Junis’ are la. Arriving at his main havis sig, Eftiar pressed domed buttons, necessary checking for avi neutrality. When satisfied, entering the doorway he asked, Really, why must you land fuai beyond your home?

    Calmer, a lilt giggle, I enjoy the countryside; it brings peace of niet, as you do here. I do as you and the Junis request. I really do not understand why you are worried. Our ites are peaceful and would not harm one another. Entering…oooh my, this place is more than just for peace of niet.

    Eftiar must speak with the Imo Macos from here. The walls are covered with so many different sensors. Look at those massive compus*’ and oh… the main havis I have heard so much about…turning in circle, suddenly embarrassed, realizing that she had avid all to Eftiar.

    * compus—computer

    Eftiar liked what he saw within his Efiar. Astute comprehension in only a few sentences; this child realized more than she has been told. Yes, the Imo Macos are right; she will make a great Eftiara. I must help her control aving. "Yes this sig is a primary metho sig*, for sharing information with the Imo Macos. This will be the place of your learning."

    * metho sig—room for communicating with the Imo Macos

    Eftiar, why are you not making Efiari take your place? After all he is first born.

    It is written my first-born will not be strong in niet avi, or capable of guiding. Regret showed as he fuaid to the machines, working the different computations making lights dance rapidly along the many compus walls. "I had so much hope, but you know Efiari cares nothing of such matters only of his wants and needs."

    You have not given him a chance.

    "Efiari has been to this sig many tias so I could make sure who should guide. Aspid* tia is approaching and now you must start your lessons, the Imo Macos have requested this.

    * aspid—death sleep

    Oh? Eftiar, are you ill? rushing to him, her avi communicating her worry. It was not often the Imo Macos called upon them to do their bidding, usually they chose liaison, and his speaking of the death sleep heightened her concern.

    He took her into his arms, No Efiar, He gave her a comfort hug, Now we will begin the process. somberly releasing his embrace, Please remove your havis and lie on this lounge.

    The lounge was clear and curved somewhat replicating the chairs of the dining sig. Efiar did as she was avid. "You are now going to niet apt*," Lovingly he reached down with an Imo Maco spirit crystal touching it to her forehead. The crystal did not seem to feel hot or cold, but a simmering glow seemed to come from the crystal as her body felt increasingly haloed in light.

    *

    Efiar, it is time for you to wake, Efiari avid, Come arise.

    Where is Eftiar? Slowly coming to terms, aware she was in her sig, lying in bed. Rising with difficulty to a sitting position, she felt very ill to her stomach. I feel horrible.

    Should I send for a Juni? You have had a long apt since yesterday afternoon. I was beginning to think you would never wake.

    * passé dai –yesterday

    Passé dai*? Efiari, I was with Eft… Dart fuaing to the projectile sig, Efiar rid her stomach…

    Hearing her regurgitate, fearing he may do the same, he hurriedly began to fuai back and forth, showing more than casual interest to her problem. "Really? Did you happen to go into the havis sig?"

    Wiping her mouth as she fuaid into the doorway … Should this be known to my Efiari? Something in the way he avid her, "Nooo, should I have been?" Eyes to the floor, Efiar fibbed for the first time in her life.

    No, no it’s just Eftiar apts for long periods after he has been in the main havis sig, without revealing he had been in there himself. ?"

    Hovering in the archway, she stared, Efiari, have you been in that sig?

    Turning his back to her, his upudo did not adjust as quickly, No, why do you ask?

    Still hovering in the archway, his query made her fuai dart left, Eftiar, told me you had, why have you lied to me? I can’t believe you just lied to me!

    Efiari’s face revealed noticeable shock, Ah, I was told not to tell anyone, not even you.

    Oh? Well…I’m sorry for doubting you, but why would Eftiar tell you to keep this from me?

    Eftiar has his reasons for a lot of things I do not understand. When he is aspid, then I shall no doubt rule. Maybe he wants me to learn to keep secrets to be a better ruler, fuaing back and forth with his arms akimbo and nose in the air.

    Ah…h… have you discussed this with Eftiar? fuai moving close to Efiari, "And I think it is to guide the ites not rule."

    Fidgeting in flight, his bulk overpowering this too-small sig with so much pu foliage hanging everywhere, like the basin floor of the upu, "Yes, yes, but you know Eftiar gives no answer, but it is my right you know. I am first born!"

    You make sure to remind me every few mini, aving her milk meow grin. It is his birthright. So proudly he prances around my sig in his swaying fuai and; yikeswatching in horror unable to fuai…he almost knocked down my new simona lamp that took eons to find in the upu. Why are you doing this to us Eftiar? Why did I not tell Efiari I was in the main havis sig? The last thing I remember…oh yes he placed the Imo crystal to my forehead. Is this what makes me doubt? I feel sick again and now my head hurts…Grabbing her head, feeling as if it were in a vice, slowly she fuaid to her bed, as if fuaing the upu. Sinking down drawing herself into a fetal position, she felt herself again in pain.

    Efiar, are you ok? Efiari avid into her thoughts.

    "I don’t feel well; you best call a Juni," Focusing, briefly, she again allowed her bed to enwrap her.

    Without hesitation Efiari fuaid quickly to the door and summoned a Juni; who checked Efiar quickly and left. Efiari backed away, Do you think you have something catching?

    Sometimes he is such a child, "You know there are no communicable diseases in our city. I guess I just did too much land fuaing passé dai."

    When are you going to learn you should only fuai? I believe that is what is ailing you. Land fuaing as our ancestors did, no longer exists in our genes.

    * trias—years

    "Doesn’t exist? I have been doing it for trias* and Junis do not fuai, do they? Sometimes you do not give thought to anything Efiari," now desperately wishing he would remove himself.

    With a smug knowing look, Well now that you know about the main havis sig that is precisely where I acquired this tidbit of information.

    Really? Succumbing to her curiosity; but they were interrupted by a Juni entering with a drink of herbs prepared for her symptoms.

    I will depart and let you rest, please avi me and I will come upon your awakening. After all you are my favorite Efiar. The Juni made way for Efiari, as he fuaid to her, leaning in his upudo cascaded over her body, as he simid her forehead ever so lightly.

    I’m the only one you have. No, don’t go. Did we do this in the outer city as I do now? The Junis have to do it; they can’t fuai, can they? Ooooooooh-oh my head…

    What tia is it? I feel wonderful! That herb really worked. Going into the upu sig*, she realized it was bright of early morn.

    *

    Fuaing to the dining sig, she checked for the handsome Juni, to no avail. She acknowledged the kaleidoscopic glow of the dai in various colors of lu horizon. Entering this large room, with the long table of clear glass, with candles lit for atmosphere with a special scent of morn dew and pu of li throughout the sig was all that was needed to make it the most special of their sigs. Good morn Eftiar, Efiari; is it not a gorgeous morn?

    * trio—the number three,*upu sig—room with pool for life giving salt water,

    "Good morn Efiar, did you sleep well these trio* dais?" Eftiar inquired, as she approached to give his ritual simi…

    Efiar jolted in mid space equalizing what her Eftiar had just avid, What? I-I apt trio dais?

    You sure did! Efiari broke in, biting an apple. I thought you would never wake, but Eftiar said all was well, you needed rest. Efiari eyed both suspiciously.

    I do not believe it. I wasn’t feeling miserable enough for the Juni to give me a heavy dose for trio dais. Must find out which Juni did that.

    "Well apparently the Juni felt you needed it," Eftiar avid.

    Did the Juni say what was wrong with you Efiar? Efiari avid.

    "You were there, neither of us avi queried. Besides Efiari dear, why would I need to find out which Juni it was? smiling with a daring glare.

    Efiari wisely returned to his food, Eftiar, what of this sioutous?

    "It is light-trias away and heading for us…

    What do you plan to do, Eftiar?

    Setting down his utensil, for full affirmation, We will be going into the main havis sig to meet with the Imo Macos after breakfast. both teenagers showed surprise …

    But surely Efiar has not the capacity.

    "It is the wishes of the Imo Macos. I just
