To My Annie: 100 Poems of Passion
Author

Wade Powers

Wade grew up in Lancaster, California with a love for the written word. What started out as simple poems and predictable short stories has evolved into novels about struggles, conquest, love and death. Wade has published two other novels, "Specter of an Accident" and "Skinware" and has completed the writer's version of the hat trick with the completion of "The Resurrection Factor." Wade has also written "The Covenant Divorce Recovery Leader's Handbook" which is a tutorial for starting divorce support groups for Christians. "The Covenant Divorce Recovery Student Workbook" was written as an aid for the members of said groups and allows a measure of accountability for the students as they follow along the fifteen week course. Wade has written two books of poetry, "To My Annie" and "To My Annie Book 2" and all of his works are available at online bookstores. His website is www.yellowriter.com and he lives in Port Angeles, Washington with his wife, Annie.

    Forever Friend

Bottle the fragrance of a cool spring rain

Admire the sway of zephyr-blown grain

Remember the ribbons a rare rainbow sends

More than a lover, my forever friend

Listen to waves crest and crash on the sand

Serenaded by seagulls: God’s blaring band

Mysteries known when ear gives to lend

More than a lover, my forever friend

Mist of the waterfall kisses your face

Time freezes the moment-makes eternal space

Hearts as a garden we’re willing to tend

More than a lover, my forever friend

The babbling brook seems to whisper your name

    Evolutionary language-waters never the same

But you are the bedrock that helps me defend

More than a lover, my forever friend

Dispel all the myths of a man with a maid

Trust our foundation, together twain laid

My kindred spirit-no fences to mend

More than a lover, my forever friend

    A Place Called Each Other

Consoling the hurt and the tears that we cried

Extolling the eulogy for dreams that have died

Correcting the compass with love as our guide

In a place called each other we successfully hide

Remember the day, my beautiful bride

With vows and a kiss, a knot that was tied,

Embarking together with hopes deep and wide

In a place called each other we successfully hide

Battered by trouble, like a tempest-torn tide

Tossed by the storm, we’re tested and tried

Disappointment and sorrow against which we sighed

In a place called each other we successfully hide

Muster forgiveness toward all who have lied

Establish relations with those whom we’ve shied

Long arduous process, but in grace we abide

In a place called each other we successfully hide

Sort out competition in which we have vied

Victory is certain; as they say, cut-and-dried

All in all quite exciting, like a pleasant joy-ride

In a place called each other we successfully hide

    Grander Design

Ancient comparison to a rare summer day

Justified metaphor, yet more than a play

Beauty beyond the poet’s fine line

Loves from a heart of grander design

Song in the morning, coo of a dove

    Simplistic symphony from heaven above

My spirit seeks a much purer sign

Loves from a heart of grander design

Fog from the ocean, logs on the fire

Cradle in comfort and passion’s desire

Yearn for her tenderness-the secret is mine

Loves from a heart of grander design

Stroking her hair, soft as the breeze
