Jane Manzitti
I started writing in July of 2000. I was facing the death of my father and the end of a painful 18 year marriage. This blessing gave me strength through very hard emotional times. It’s also a lot of fun. My credentials for writing is a love for words, rhyming and life. I can never be Dr. Seuss and I don’t want to sound too obtuse, so to you may I introduce a middle-age old mother goose, explains it all. My love for God and our earth has given me the strength and wisdom needed to find inner peace. I dedicate this book to my mother, Jean. Her unconditional love and strength gave me the power to go on. She taught me to be independent, artistic and think outside the box. I can only hope to be half the person she was.

21St Century Woman''s Book of Poems - Jane Manzitti
21st Century Woman
By Jane Manzitti
21st Century Woman
Our power, it is great
Now is the time to use our force
Lead us to our fate.
Our strengths are learned through tears
Hard work and attitude
Make your choice, do it right
Yourself do not elude.
The mighty warriors keep us down
For us they show great fear
Great battles can be won or lost
But we will persevere.
Women have been sacrificed
From first we know of time
Mind and body gone astray
But out of hell we climb.
Our universe is run by power
Given from our hands
That power can be good or bad
It’s there for our commands.
Our taste for lust is useful
We choose whom to bestow
Great warriors will seek us out
Our fires hot below.
Our power must make choices
Some of which we will not like
Not used to help our world survive
Mind and body it will strike
We must realize potential
Beat us down and we will rise
We hold the power to everything
Right behind our eyes.
Don’t treat your life so cheaply
Determined, we will try
To free ourselves from unjust force
Do it, or we’ll die.
Be ever faithful to your dreams
For what we have is rare
Make a stand for peace and love
For this we must prepare.
For when the mighty warriors fall
And everything seems lost
We will find great strength and will
No matter what the cost.
We hold the key within our hearts
The gift of life and love
Finding what we really seek
Our earth to rise above.
PURPOSE
By Jane Manzitti
What is our purpose?
Why should we care?
There’s so many bigger
Worries out there.
Good against evil,
Wrong against right.
Their constant purpose?
Who’ll win the fight?
You’re here aren’t you, buddy?
Yeah, so am I.
To find out our purpose
A life can go by.
Power and money
Is it wrong, is it right?
The purpose will help you
Sleep well at night.
Goodness and kindness
That’s certainly not jaded.
The purpose for goodness
Can sometimes be shaded.
You figure it out.
You have your own brain
Your purpose could be
Something simple and plain.
To live and be happy
Be evil and sin
Only you know your purpose
And it comes from within.
I am Freedom
By Jane Manzitti
I have the power to be who I am
I make decisions as to how I feel
Power can be forced
If it makes us feel whole.
I have the freedom
To search my own soul.
What we have
What we want.
Is it really up to us?
Our highest power
Our biggest fears
It’s our freedom
It’s our trust.
I have the freedom
To be what I want
To say what
To hear what
To act like I want.
Freedom to all
Who believe in themselves.
To stand up and fight
Or surrender.
Not using your freedom
Not saying
Not hearing
Not acting like you want
Will be beneath
Of what we’re intended.
MID-LIFE CRISIS
By Jane Manzitti
I’m having a mid-life crisis.
I don’t know which way to turn.
I’m confused about my being.
What do I need to learn?
My body
