    God’s Words to Comfort You

    Dear Reader 55719.png

The night was long, but not long enough. How we wished we could travel back in time just three short months. Our precious first born son, Dawson, was in remission then, and our little daughter, Joanna, played contentedly with her big brother. We were a very happy family of four. If only we could hold those cherished days in a timeless bottle … But there is no such opportunity.

The night was dark and the morning grew darker as we pressed ourselves nearer to Dawson’s bed. Just at sunrise our son lost his battle with leukemia. There are no words. You know that. While Leukemia had won, the love in our hearts has never been overtaken by suffering or time.

Steve: Each morning I woke, it felt like I was a freight train slamming into a brick wall.

Karen: I couldn’t cry easily with others.

Steve: I wanted to talk about my son and his death to anyone who would listen.

Karen: It felt like I would never come back from my journey into grief.

Together: We trusted God to help us.

Our loss is not a model for you. We do not share our story to add to your pain. We just want you to know that our hearts beat in the rhythm of pain with yours. We want you to know what brought healing for our broken hearts is available for you too. If your wife lingered in a painful death, if your parent has recently passed away, if your husband died suddenly, if your child was killed by a drunk driver, or if a sibling recently took his own life, this book is written for you.

We look forward to being supportive friends as you live through the seasons of your grief. 55721.png

You are hurting. Right now the pain is unlike anything you have experienced. Words like arrangements, process, stages, and grief may cause you to recoil and insist this is all a bad dream. Even reading can seem insurmountable. For that reason, this grief recovery guide is designed for your unique, broken hearted needs. Our intention is that you find comfort here as you move through your individual seasons of grief.
