    Chapter 1

Chad Roberts grew up in New Weston, Ohio. He could hear the racecars at Eldora Speedway every weekend. So growing up with the roar of the engines putting him to sleep, he knew that is what he wanted to do for his life.

Now at twenty-seven Chad sat in the grandstands of the most famous racetrack of all, Daytona International Speedway. What a feeling to be sitting here, and knowing that where he is sitting now will be full come tomorrow.

And he will be starting his dream of becoming a NASCAR Sprint Cup Driver, but for this season he is a Rookie.

Just twenty years ago he sat in this very seat with his father, Jacob, sitting beside him watching all the racecars, smelling the smells, listening to the sounds, and the roar of the crowd. Seven year old, Chad looked at Jacob and said, When I grow up I want to drive racecars here. Maybe you can sit here and watch me.

Chad felt the lose of his father so much more now, that Chad was in NASCAR, and knowing that Jacob would not get to see his son drive a racecar on the track at Daytona International Speedway.

But this speedway holds a lot of wonderful memory’s of past winners like: Dale Earnhardt, Dale Jr., Jeff Gordon, Richard Petty, Davey and Bobby Allison, Cale Yarborough, and so many more.

Chad was sitting in this very seat when Dale Earnhardt had that faithful wreck that took his life.

He was also here the next year looking at all the number 3 flags flying around the racetrack.

Jacob was a huge Earnhardt fan. That was another thing that Chad and Jacob had in common.

It is not every day that your father would pack up everything and follow you around while you are making a name for yourself.

Chad had started out in Kart and Midgets, dirt tracks; his favorite is Eldora Speedway, in New Weston, Ohio. That was where Dan Turner first noticed Chad.

Dan was just getting ready to start his race teams out of Mooresville, North Carolina.

Dan had a nationwide series car, a craftsmen truck and now with Chad at the wheel he will have a sprint cup car. It was a dream for both Dan and Chad.

Dan walked down the aisle to see Chad sitting, and looking out
