    Part 1

The protagonist of this story is a man of twenty years named Tyler Harp. He’s an over-worked, under-paid forensic scientist…a regular, everyday man you could say. He’s only a bit odd because of his firm belief in the zombie apocalypse, and his closet is stocked with ammunition and several guns…Not to mention his mental instability…Twitching, flashes of violence in his mind, and social ineptness…But he’s a kind, caring man; he can control it…usually.

    Voice: Tyler! Tyler!

The voice is muffled. I open my eyes and I’m in a white, bare room. I look around; a door, a table with a typewriter, and I’m lying on a cot. I get up and walk around. I look closely at the typewriter; in it is a sheet of paper with the ending to a book called The Wasteland. I don’t take the time to read it, but on every page the number 208976 is written. I take some more time to look around the room; it truly is barren…I walk to the door and go for the handle, locked, of course. I look at the door, there is no lock…I look up, a keypad. What the hell? I think, and I type 208976. Beep! The door is unlocked. I open the door, there is nothing but white light. I walk forward. Everything is bright white then black. I hear the voice again.

    Voice: Tyler!

I gasp awake. I look around, I’m in my car.

    Voice: Hey!

I look out my window, it’s my boss.

Me: Oh, hey, what’s wrong Mr. Cummings?

Travis: Well for one, you know to call me Travis. Two, you’re asleep in your car, you need to go home.

Me: But I need to clock in!

Travis: …You just clocked out…You’re done for today.

    Me: Oh…sorry. I’ve been a little…distracted lately.
