About this ebook

This book is the result of my love and memoirs of my only daughter Beverly and my husband, John Henry Wells. Here I have gathered thoughts, ideas and memories of which they have done and enjoyed them. As I listen to my husband, I am in awe of the many experiences he has encountered. Yet, he remains a strong man with ideas and thoughts for the future. He has had to endure so much prejudice and encounters that he said only made him desire to do better things he was experience at the time with God's help.

    Special Thanks and Appreciation

    • Many times I have sat and listened to my husband relate these words to others as encouragements and patterns in life. My nephew, Dr. Roy Jemison of Albuquerque, New Mexico, while visiting us here in Baltimore, suggested that I write them down. I sent them to him and he typed them. That was in the summer of 2004.

    • Later in 2009, when he hosted the 47th McNeill Family Reunion, he asked when we were going to have it published. Thank you Roy for asking. It really made me START again.

    • Thanks to my A & T College classmate, confidante and friend, Fannie Worley-Perry, who continued to encourage me.

    • Thanks to my husband, John Henry Wells, Sr., for allowing this to be done. Thanks to his family, The Wells, for preserving the photos that are used within the book and for the encouragement to publish.

    • Special thanks to the professional typist, Ms. Denise McCormick, wife of Rev. R. Clayton McCormick, Pastor of Abundant Life Missionary Baptist Church.

    Introduction to the Book

This book is the result of my love and memories of my only daughter Beverly and my husband, John Henry Wells. Here I have gathered thoughts, ideas and memories of which they have done and enjoyed. As I listen to my husband, I am in awe of the many experiences he has encountered. Yet, he remains a strong man with ideas and thoughts for the future. He has had to endure so much prejudice and encounters that he said only made him desire to do better things he was experiencing at the time with God’s help.

My daughter Beverly’s experiences are through my eyesight. There are lessons I have learned as a mother and some pleasant experiences she has had with me and her father, Rev. L. R. Dumas.

Parents as you read this, I am sure you will relate to many of the encounters. Since Beverly was an only child, some things were difficult, but I tried to fill in whenever I could. There were church members who were very helpful in many ways also.

I hope you will enjoy reading this and find comfort in the messages they convey.

My husband, John Henry Wells and I were married in 2000 and enjoy living in Baltimore, Maryland and conducting our non-profit program.

Beverly, my daughter, and her husband Ray along with their two children, Artice Ray, age 10 and Ranita Deva age eight, live in Tampa, Florida. They are busy at work and active in their church, school, and community.
