Down Memory Lane - Brenda Cooper
Thank You
Thank You for being there when I was little
Thank You for putting up with me as a teen
Thank You for your guidance and patience
Thank You for your advice, even if not followed
Thank You for your support, no matter if you agreed
Thank you for lending an ear and a shoulder to cry on
But most of all Thank You
for You being You and Letting Me be Me
**************************
The water is sparkling in the sun
Do I think I should turn and run
Life can deal one a poor hand
But it’s how you play it, that makes it stand
Love can go smooth or hurt like hell
Because I have tripped and fell
Now I need to pick myself up
Regain my thoughts and start again
sept 29 032.JPGTrying Your Best – Not Perfection
I was taught to try my best
Put myself to the test
Push myself to my limits
But always try my best
It may appear I strive for perfection
But all I am trying to do is make a selection
In travelling the roads of life
With the least bumps and turns
********************************
Far From Perfect
I have tried to do my best
No matter what I was doing
Always putting myself to the test
To push my limits
Maybe I was not right
To expect the same from everyone else
Pushing them to fight
Because they think I expect perfection
I would expect no more than I would do
From all others – just try your best
But it appears all others do not have a clue
That I am far from perfect
My Best Friend, My Lover, My Soul Mate
Someone you can talk to
Someone you can confide in
Someone you want beside you
Someone that will walk beside you no matter what
That’s why I know you are My Best Friend
Someone you can love
Someone with a special touch
Someone you can be intimate with
Someone that makes you feel loved
That’s why I know you are My Lover
Someone to grow with
Someone to spend the rest of my life with
Someone you share a special connection with
Someone who gives back as much love as you give them
That’s why I know you are My Soul Mate
Tough Love
Oh how to define Tough Love
Having time outs when children are young
Grounding children as they grow
But the toughest love of all is dealing with teenagers
Not realizing what they put their parents through
Questioning their every reasons as to why
Why can’t I do this, why can’t I go here
Why do I have to listen to you
Trying to implement values and guidance
Keeping your cool when challenged
Implementing rules and having them followed
But the toughest love of all is releasing them from your hold
Letting them learn things the hard way
Giving them the space and control of their lives
But keeping in contact with them
So they know you love and care for them
Tough Love tears the heart into pieces
Brings tears to the eyes of everyone
But you as a parent
