About this ebook

My struggle started 30 years ago and still continues today...spanning more than a quarter century..described in poetry and prose.

I lost my mobility, my faith in God and people. I asked God for help and He responded. I asked my doctors for help also......but most of all I ask my family for help.....without them I would be nowhere!!

I searched for answers where therewere none. I looked for miracles may have found one. I am no longer angry and feel hopeless.. I now pray and thank God for everyday. I enjoy life.

.Young Onset Parkinson's not only changes your life, it controls your life and that of your families. You lose control of movements, flexibility and even cognitive functioning. Time means nothing to Parkinson's. It controls where and when you go. At times it dictates if you go. Moments of Hope are moments I feel in control, moments when I feel empowered and capable of fighting back.

This is my story. This is my fight. I learned to live with adversity.

Poetry became my escape, my way of fighting back.

My Life is Different, Not Over.

I'm in this to win!!

MY MOMENTS OF HOPE … SPECIFIC TIME IN YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU FEEL IN CONTROL

SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS WHERE THERE ARE NONE.

THERE ARE NO RIGHT OR WRONG ANSWERS, ONLY CHOICES

MY LIFE IS DIFFERENT, NOT OVER

This book is dedicated to my wife, Rosanne, and my daughters, Christine and Danielle. Without their love and patience and understanding, I would have given up long ago. Rosanne has dedicated her life to me and our children and has struggled with me during the past twenty-five years that I had neurological problems.

We have been married twenty-nine years.

Thanks for helping me fight back.

I used to say that I fight back.

Actually I should say that we fight back

since Parkinson’s affects the entire family.

    How we fight back

    we talk, watch tv

    try to enjoy every minute

Each day we try to play

It’s our way of fighting back

    our way of saying

    we won today

    Tomorrow is another day

Rome was not built in a day, they say

    Now it’s not me

    It is we

    My family

    we talk and pray

    for a better day

To my dad, who taught me from an early age that anything in life is possible and that if I set goals and wanted something badly enough, I could achieve it.

To my mother-in-law, Laurice, and father-in-law, Albert, who not only supported me but have a special place in my heart because they have donated money to the Parkinson’s Foundation in my name.

To Jean Campbell, a childhood friend, who planted the original idea of writing about Parkinson’s and insists that I can do it. Prior to this I never considered writing.

To those friends and family who believe in me

those others who gave me hope
