About this ebook
Author James Bulkowski offers children a glimpse into a fantasy world where the flowers dance and ask, Have you ever seen anything more beautiful than us? The fireflies fly through the forest under a full moon, the falling stars bring the stories to old trees, and the trees whisper the tales to the flowers. In the heart of the dark woods, a flower child known to others as Wee Miss Emily lives in the Kingdom of Red Brick and Colored Glass and has no idea that the High Queen of the Woodland Flowers is summoning her to her royal castle. Now it is up to the one who sits among the trees to deliver Miss Emily to the Queen.
Surrounded by the unpredictability of a mystical forest, the Sitter and a band of characters embark on an unforgettable journey through an ancient world to fulfill a royal wish.

The legend of O’Briah,
as told from star to tree,
translated by the flowers,
for their Princess Emily.
The Briah is a world
of memory, myth, and light
that shows itself in rainbows
and the twinkling stars of night.
To be of the Briah,
a world of ancient times,
home to all that flowers
and all the natural signs.
It sends to us the north winds
and the rain that falls so light,
where rich earth grows abundant fruit
and fireflies light the night.
It travels on the songs of birds
as they float upon the breeze.
It’s where the old-time stories
are whispered by the trees.
It awakens to the sound of drums
and smiles to greet the sun.
There, there is but one rule;
Do as you will, harm none.

The Dream
This morning, as I slept under the trees, I had a dream. The sun had just broken over the horizon when a little yellow flower turned to me and in the softest voice asked, Have you ever seen anything so warm?
I turned my face to the east and felt the warmth that the flower spoke of, when I remembered the little girl I’d met in town the day before. She was only three or four and told me her name was Emily. Yes, I have,
I replied I have seen a smile warmer than that.
Then, two more flowers joined in—a little white one and a dark red one. As the birds sang to welcome the new day, the flowers, together, asked me, Have you ever heard a more joyous sound?
I listened to the birds in the trees and the crickets among the leaves; I heard the creek that bubbled over the stones, even the wind that whispered high in the treetops, but again my mind went back to that little girl I’d met the day before, Emily. She was pretending to be a cat chasing the swirling leaves on the sidewalk.
Yes, I have,
I replied.
Tell us!
they cried.
I have heard laughter.
Now all the forest flowers began to sway,
