    Play Grandpa. Play Grandpa.

    Nice Grandpa. Nice grandpa.

Dancing feet took a hold of me.

    My God,

Joy took a hold of me.

    My Boy,

Those words will take me to the grave.

How could I not love my blood?

The young and old find a bundle of joy.

True love, my boy, will never die.

    I beg of you,

    Spread the legacy.

Take my hands to the heart of man.

    My Boy,

Use your mind to focus on that which is good.

    Love always,

    Grandpa Melbourne Peat

    WORDS

    My Boy,

They don’t know what words mean to me.

Words set my soul on fire.

I said fire to lift my spirit.

Without words, I would be dead to reasoning.

How could I poke fun in the face of suffering?

    My Boy,

If I had not committed my hands for the good of man,

The burden of man would escape mine eyes.

    My Boy,

Without words, how could I share?

The time spent alone would be a waste.

Sweet words, my boy, are like music to the heart.

    THE EARTH

    My God,

    When the earth burst,

Man was no match for its belly.

Faces that were once filled with hatred,

    Now dripping tears like raindrops.

    My God, My God,

How long could the hands of hatred last?

Yes, man, confront the hands of the Great Ruler.

The hoarding of fine gold lines the frames of the dead.

Fire moves everything in its path.

A nation is under the spell of disaster.

Now its people are crying out to God.

    BEAUTIFUL

    My Boy,

    Love can be beautiful.

Sweet sleep will allow dreams their course.

A rested man will find his spirit on a high note.

It’s better to find the joy of true love than carry the pain of hatred.

A loving man will be free with his hands.

In this time of great hardship,

What the world needs is some free hands.

Only true love will free up the hands.

    A GIFT OF LOVE

    My Boy,

You have given the best gift a man could ask for,

A bundle of love that will outlive me.

    What joy I have found.

    My Boy,

I am a new man now.

It’s my duty to spread the love.

    For the good of man,

I shall coin words to heal the troubled souls.

    THE HANDS OF JUSTICE

    My God,

Her little body was no match for the hands of evil.

A father filled with rage cast her to the mercy of the river.

    My God,

A nation witnessed evil at its core.

A father could not find time to have mercy.

    My God,

At this hour tears find my wrath.

May her young soul find favor with thee.

    Awake, my spirit.

    Awake, my spirit.

I have seen man gone mad.

    Lord,

The working of the mind I cannot understand.

What kind of heart is he fitted with?

A young child could not get the time to bloom.

    Blessed Father,

Today I come before you a broken man.

    My spirit cannot rest.

Let the hands of justice take its course.

    DEATH

How could I not weep for my beloved,

When death came for her in a hurry?

Now that she is on her journey,

    May the angels await her.

    My Lord,

    Heaven-bound I pray.

    My Dear,

You have lived a pleasing life.

    May the living take heed.

May your work speak for you.

    MAN AND BOY

    My Friends,

    Come look at our eyes.

Man and boy bonding for the first time.

    He is my blood.

How could I not love him?

    My Friends,

    Hide not your eyes.

The meeting of the minds is on display.

How I had longed for this day.

    Look at my hands.

    If only eyes could talk.

Man and boy find love at first sight.

    My God,

    You have seen our paths.

May your hands be our guides.

Today I have seen my heart’s desire.

Let no man take away what is mine.

Let me live to give of myself.

    Fine gold have I none.

Yet I come with a song of love.

    I SHALL BE WITH YOU

    My Boy,

I shall be with you in spirit.

Your young mind shall wonder who I am.

    Do not be afraid.

    It’s me, not a stranger.

    It’s me, your Grandpa,

A man from a far away land,

A man who came to this land for a purpose.

    SWEET LOVE

    Sweet Love,

Come to me that I may taste of thee.

Let no man take away what is yours.

When a man is called to rejoice with his clapping hands,

The good God must have sanctioned his move.

    Sweet Love,

To the watching eyes, let them be fixed.

Come to me that I may taste of thee.

    BOAST NOT

    My Friends,

    Boast not of your standing.

I have seen the fall of man.

That shame took a hold of him.

    In his lowest form,

    Madness took over his head.

It is better to humble thyself.

    My Friends,

    Watch and pray.

Be thankful to see another day.

    Along life’s journey,

    May peace be upon you.

Remember: A good deed is expected of you.

    SPEAK TO HIM

    My Dear,

    What sorrows can we share?

    The suffering man cannot escape.

Well, then, fold not your hands.

Use them to wash away the dirt.

Man in a state of madness crying out.

    My Dear,

Let us lend a helping hand.

Speak to him from your heart.

    Lend him a mother’s heart.

    TRUE LOVE

    My Dear,

I lift my hands to love.

Strong love, my dear, is like music to the soul.

A happy heart is better than fine gold.

Only death can stop its rhythm.

    My Dear,

    Don’t forget the lover’s wings.

    My Dear,

If all the tears drip and you cannot find this hand,

    Let the wings be fitted.

    A TRAVELLING SON

My people, if I do not return to the land of my birth,

    Forget not your son.

Even though the womb from which I came now returns to the land,

    My spirit cannot rest.

From my adopted home I shall share my tears.

This land has been good to me.

When I was hungry for knowledge,

They prepared a place for me.

I am who I am because of so many good hands.

My people, for the love of humanity,

I pray you spread the wealth.

Out of many, let us be thankful.

    We are all God’s children.

My people, waste not the hands of your traveling son.

    A SONG OF LOVE

    My Boy,

When I remember how David played upon his harp to please his Lord,

Who am I not to play for you?

A joyful heart is upon me.

    My Boy,

    You are the first.

You came, you looked and you smiled.

From the lips of others came a song of victory.

Who could it be but the working of the Lord?

    Before their very eyes,

Man and boy seal their love.

    My Boy,

Today I am with the mountain.

With this hand I shall honor thee.
