    The word faith is quite familiar to most Christians in the world. I first heard about it as a little boy growing up in rural Africa. Like most people, the idea of having faith in God sounds good to my ears. However, as I mature in the Lord and heard many people teach about faith, I began to see many loop holes and outright misinformation on the subject. I must admit that it provoked me to start a long journey of trying to get a clearer picture of what faith is really about. I simply wanted to find an answer to simple questions like what is faith, how do I get it, and how do I use it effectively. Like King Solomon, I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that is done under heaven. Ecclesiastes 1:13


    The goal of this book is to share with you what I have discovered and learned about faith over the past several years of seeking and searching the heart of God concerning the subject matter. Also, I would like to share with you some of my own personal faith-walk experiences in life. I believe that one can learn from the experience of others. I want you to be able to learn from my life what I called my faith walk experiences. Finally, it is my earnest desire to teach you about faith in such a way that you would never have any misunderstanding concerning the subject. In short, my assignment is to help you avoid the errors and pitfalls of many teachers and instead reveal to you the heart of God concerning the subject of faith. Believe me, if you read this book prayerfully with an open mind, your life would never be the same again.

    Joshua Joy Dara, Sr., is a pastor and a practicing attorney-at-law. He was born in Nigeria in western Africa. In 1980, he immigrated to the United States, and he is now a US citizen. He earned an associate of arts degree from Kwara State College of Basic Studies in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from California Baptist University in Riverside, California. He earned a juris doctor degree from Southern University School of Law in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He earned a master of laws degree from University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Mr. Dara is licensed to practice law in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. In addition, he is admitted to practice before the United States courts of appeals for the fifth, eighth, and federal circuits, the US Claims Court, and the US Court of International Trade. He is the senior pastor of the Zion Hill Church family in Pineville, Louisiana. The church is one of the fastest growing churches in the region with more than three thousand members. In addition to being a pastor and a practicing attorney-at-law, Mr. Dara is a businessperson, a community leader, a published author, a recording artist, a motivational speaker, a television evangelist, a television show host and producer, and the founder of Joy Dara Ministries, Inc. He is married to Elizabeth Joy Dara. They are blessed with five children.

      DEDICATION

      This book is dedicated to my God, my family, and my church. I dedicate it to God because I recognize that without God, I can do nothing. I am thankful to God for grace and mercy upon my life. It was God who gave me, among other things, the wisdom and insight into the mystery of God concerning the subject of faith. Also, I thank Him for giving me another platform to tell the whole world that Jesus is real.

      I am grateful to my wife, Elizabeth, for being a true helpmate. But for her, I would not have accomplished so much in life. God knew that I needed help, and He sent me Elizabeth. It took me years to comprehend fully the importance of a helpmate in a man’s life. I thought that I could do it all alone. Now, I am convinced that most men need a helpmate, and I am glad that I have mine.

      Also, I dedicate this book to my five children: Joshua Joy Jr., Jibola Joy, Janice Joy, Jumoke Joy, and Jessie Joy. They are the apples of my eyes and the inspiration for my continued living. I am grateful to all of them for making the honor roll in all their schools, for staying out of trouble, for staying in the church, for being obedient to their parents, for doing the right things, and for striving for greatness in life.       Finally, I dedicate this book to my church family at Zion Hill in Pineville, Louisiana, USA. Zion Hill church is the laboratory where God gave me a platform to practice, experiment, and sharpen my skill for the work of the ministry. I knew all along that I was called by God to change nations. I had a bag of ideas of what to do to make our world a better place, but I needed a laboratory to cook and work those ideas.       INTRODUCTION

      I was born and raised in Ipee, a very small town in the western part of Nigeria, in West Africa. At twenty years of age, I came to the United States to better myself. I have lived in the United States for almost thirty years. During that period of time, God has enabled me to become a successful businessman, an attorney licensed to practice in three states, a community leader, a television evangelist, a father of five lovely children, and a pastor of a medium mega-size church. Quite often, people ask me how in the world a twenty-year-old boy from a remote part of the world could make it big in the United States. More specifically, some people often ask me about the secret to my success in the United States. My answer to them is that my faith in God is what makes the difference. When I look back and reflect on what could have happen, what almost happened, and how I overcome all the odds, I cannot but conclude that the only way I got this far is by faith in God.
