Introduction:
Jim was a man whose passion was helping others. His greatest joy was helping those afflicted with the disease of alcoholism or drug addiction. He understood the disease. He had lived through the hope, the destruction and the recovery of the disease. He was not able to conquer all the parts of his life, but could see into the hearts and souls of others and help them see what was necessary to live a sober life. Jim struggled daily with the power of alcohol and addiction. He made a decision to not drink every day and through the power of his higher power, Jesus Christ the God of the Universe, remained sober for nearly 30 years.
He was not always happy with his gifts, but came to know the power of his insights. He was always drawn to the person who was in trouble or in need of a helping hand. He was—just Jim—what you see is what you get. His sudden death caused an outpouring of love from those around him. Shock, disbelief and deep sadness
