About this ebook

This book of poems is a companion to Kaleidoscope for Kids, written here for Gerries and their sons and daughters too. The rhymie or free-style poetic form is easily readable and understandable. The poems embrace a broad spectrum of life experience. Expressions of emotion range from humorous to serious or thought-provoking and introspective. Some poems recall loss and sorrow while many express thankfulness, peace and joy. A special voice has been given to the geriatric population since they are rarely considered otherwise. Read and discover the wonders of this book for yourself.

    Dedication

I dedicate this book of poems to my four siblings – Marilyn, Janet, Susan and Bill (Bud). Since they all followed me in birth order, they were subject to my care and instruction (after obedience to our parents), and were a happy, loveable group. Now as adults, they are terrific too. They are kind, fun, and supportive of my ventures and concerns. I thank them for generous spirits.

    Acknowledgments

My heart-felt thanks I give to my sister, Janet, who volunteered assistance in preparing the manuscript for submission. Thanks also to Craig Massey, who created the book cover design. Appreciation is offered to Becca Bass and Sarah Goddard of Authorhouse for both valuable and necessary advice and guidance in bringing the project to completion. Thanks to all family and friends who encouraged me to fulfill a long-time desire to write and get into print this book and its companion volume, Kaleidoscope for Kids (and for adults with playful minds), as well as other written works.

    Introduction

Look! Look into a Kaleidoscope and see the colors gently dancing. Turn it now and catch a dazzle of pattern not unlike our human experience. Whether our tears carry the spectrum of colors or our emotions exhibit a fountain of joy, I hope that you will gain a measure of appreciation for nature and the human spirit after reading these poems, and that you will embrace life in its fullest.
