About this ebook
Diana Perez
Growing up as an around the way girl, Diana dealt with relationships, loneliness and the entrapment she felt from her shrinking community. Through this, she found her voice and offers her sometimes comical, sometimes cynical but always honest view of how to deal through her methodical rhymes and rhythms that leave you wanting more. Through it all, the author has found strength and leaves you compelled to rise from pitfalls with pieces like Liberation and Leaving while entrancing you with hopes of finding love in Secret and Hard To Find. A Conscious Spirit offers an romanticized view on common day issues and sometimes feels like a diary you had always wished to write yourself. With sassy rhymes and insightful messages the author truly leaves you entangled in her words, letting all guards down she invites you to read all the stories of her heart. This is a gritty yet lovely tale of a young womans journey and all she ask is that you get lost along the way.

Why does it seem that in life we lose ourselves? Trying to be the next thing we put our dreams on the shelves, and time after time, my reflection it fades, but I pay it no mind cause I get lost in the haze…
Trying to be it, trying to be the shit, but you can’t get nowhere if your trying to be legit. And I can’t tell the truth cause Im surrounded by liars, growing up the image of a real man changed from a doctor to a coke supplier…
And we all escape reality by blowing some trees, cutting short life goals saying they were only pipe dreams. Only wanna claim one seed when you got about three, now you got a new baby mama cause’ you were selling cheap dreams and she only said she loved you cause you spread a lil’ cream. Baby money ain’t a thing, it’s just drugs to a fiend, so why do you lie to yourself and then choose to believe?
And you know what they say, first expand then escape, but how can we do it when drugs, jail and death is all sealed in our fate? Don’t care about love all we wanna do is mate, then we sit back and wonder why all we breed is hate…
I hope by the time change comes it’s not too little, not too late, cause me and my future, we finally set a date. And I’m not trying to be a saint, I’m just trying to change my ways, Hoping and Praying I don’t get stuck in this game…
Now I got places to go and new things to see, creating new personas by you just being you and me just doing me, and all it took to get here was to choose to believe, start opening my eyes and start seeing just to see, letting go of the hood dreams and start
