About this ebook

Ashley, a 21 year-old, entitled, college junior from a wealthy family, encounters a cretin of college sports, Tyler, who puts the physical moves on her. She dumps him in the swimming pool, and becomes the campus champion against sexual abuse. Hilarious attitudes abound.

Tyler, star quarterback, thinks he has license to do whatever he wants, reflecting all of history. Thanks to Ashley, he soon has several sexual assault complaints pending with the Dean of Students. The Dean requires Ashley to accompany Tyler everywhere, or both will be kicked out of school. Can the horrified Ashley change him? Both have tantrums.

Tyler tries every trick to meet with women for sex. Ashley humorously foils them. Their favorite haunt is a student house where unique people have frequent parties and entertainment... and commiserate. Here, there, and everywhere, Tyler and Ashley’s good friend secretly steal away for sex.

While visiting Tyler’s parents in a farming area, they discover both farm and city poverty face the same problems. They work together to help both, gain respect for each other, and a relationship blooms. But when Tyler is caught in the act with her friend, they part.

Mission accomplished, they have both changed. Ashley ceases to be a snob and Tyler begins to treat people with respect. Tyler realizes he loves her. They discover each other, but warily.

Sexual harassment and abuse are covered.

MeToo empowerment theme - Mature themes. Age 15 +. Stage and screen play available.

    Additional license notes

This novel is also available as a stage play, and screenplay.

The stage play can be licensed from the author on a sliding scale from $0 to ? based on audience size and number of productions. I didn't write it for profit; I mostly care that this play serves the purpose for which I wrote it: support women and the MeToo women's empowerment movement. It's also available online on New Play Exchange.

The screenplay rights are available only to a major producer, as written or as I rewrite to maintain the themes. No options. The screenplay may be licensed for production by student or other groups as written or as I alter it in consultation. Student commercial use is not permitted.

    CHAPTER 1

    Ashley – The Woman

Ashley turned the yacht's wheel bringing the craft into a sharp turn. The motorized yacht, for all of its roomy bulk, handled like a sports car. Exhilarated, she held the wheel for a moment, then sent it careening to starboard in a lilt that would have sunk a lesser craft.

The sun sparkled off the waves like a thousand mirrors, a thousand lights worshiping her, illuminating her like the Goddess Venus, embodying love, beauty, desire, sex, fertility, prosperity and victory. Yes! She is all that! The slight wind gently swept her hair from her face revealing youth that is undefiled by age.

Uh, oh. She spotted her father, Paul, standing on the dock watching her careless maneuvers. Except she knows they weren't careless, they were the skilled moves of a 21 year old attractive woman (she could be attractive), in swim clothes, killing it. Under her father's watchful eyes, she brought the yacht carefully into its pier berth, but her spirit was now visibly deflated. She had forgotten, but she knew.

Ashley deboarded the yacht then tied the bow and stern lines to the cleats on the pier, pulling the boat firm against the fenders. She glanced toward Paul with trepidation. The Forester home, suggesting well established wealth, was behind Paul. She could only hope the family fortune rebuilds and appearance doesn't become a lie crumbling around them.

Paul motioned her to him. Ashley shook her head no, but relented and walked a few reluctant steps toward Paul, then turned and ran back toward the yacht. It was early fall, but summer fun couldn't be over. She had had enough of that horrid, low class school.

Paul called out to her. She stopped, then with a hangdog expression, walked toward him. Paul put his arm around her, gently, comfortingly, and they walked into the house together, resigned.

    #####

How long do luxury cars still look wealthy? When do they look like some poor family bought them trying to look like they are more than they are? Ashley wondered as they drove away from their house. Paul drove. Cheryl, her mother, sat in the front with him and as usual Ashley had the back to herself.

Only child, she was aware that she was pampered. Spoiled. Brat. She had heard it all. She didn't see it that way. She simply had high standards and expectations to go with it. Why lower her standards?

Being an only child wasn't fun. She would have liked to have had a brother or sister to fight with, share private thoughts, giggle over shared secrets. But no. With two years of college behind her, any thoughts of a shared childhood were forever lost in that deep eternity of might-have-been.

Ashley's sullen look turned to resentment. I hate football.

Ashley’s parents ignored her complaints as usual. Since she began college, complaining was useless. Especially if it took money. But it was an irresistable sport.

I hate this college! She sniped. They continued to ignore her.

I could have gone to Princeton, you know. They really wanted me. They had heard it a thousand times before but it would never get off her chest.

Honey, we just can’t afford it now, Cheryl patiently explained again.

Ashley knew they wanted to send her. They had discussed it endlessly, even to the point of showing her the family financial situation on paper. But even though she was in business school, the numbers on the paper and their financial situation just couldn't take root. She couldn't let her Princeton dream go.

We could have put my last two years on credit. I’m worth it. I'd pay it off.

Paul patiently explained again, No, honey, the recession destroyed us financially. We were lucky to keep our home. He gave her a week smile.

She could pay for it. We should keep our family standards high.

And pay through the nose all of your life! Cheryl shoot back. She was obviously getting very tired of hearing this endless argument.

This place is like junior college on steroids. It’s right here in my hometown and I can’t even live on campus. Let the record show she put up a good fight. This was the story she would tell for justification later. It wasn't her fault she went to a low brow college.

It’s a very good college. My brother went here, Paul said patiently.

Now he’s an alcoholic, she quipped acrimoniously.

Cheryl whipped around in her seat, all but seething. Watch your mouth. Employers don’t care what college you went to. They just care that you went. Try being grateful you're going at all.

I have a scholarship. I earned it. Ashley sat back in her seat defiantly and folded her arms over her chest. If she was at Princeton, no one would be forcing her to go to a football game. She looked out the window at the rundown neighborhood they were driving through.

This area sucks. This must be where the alumni live.
