About this ebook
Truth is the accurate and complete representation of reality. We do not perceive reality. We only perceive a small fraction of all that is real - a representation of reality.
Truth helps us avoid two great errors in life: rejecting truth as error (Type 1 error) and accepting error as truth (Type 2 error). Both types of error can result in adverse consequences to ourselves and to those around us. We can improve the quality and length of our lives by reducing how often we make these errors and how badly we misperceive the truth.
We align our lives through trust. We trust that our perception is accurate enough and complete enough that we may align our lives with it and that we will not suffer adverse consequences
Our only other option is to trust a guide - and then trust that their perception is accurate and complete enough. We trust our perception of truth, or trust a guide. Jesus sent the Spirit of truth to guide us into all the truth. The Spirit of Truth is unlimited in his perception of all truth: physical - temporary and spiritual - eternal. He is completely trustworthy, faithful, and reliable. He knows the will of God and knows the will of God for us specifically. He knows the path God has for us, what our next step is, and when we are to take it.
We must make the choice of who we will trust to guide us into truth: ourselves or the Spirit of Truth.

The Guiding Into Truth Work of the Holy Spirit - Al Danks
Introduction
Father, we thank you in the name of Jesus for your armor and we put on your armor: truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation and the sword of your Spirit.
Father, we thank you in the name of Jesus that you send forth your Spirit of Truth to guide us into all the truth. We ask that you send your Spirit of Truth to guide us into all the truth and show us things to come. Fill us with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding so we live a life worthy of you, fully pleasing to you, and bearing fruit in every good work.
God has freely given us the Spirit of Truth to guide us – to shepherd us – into all the truth. The prayer for the teaching in this book is to impart the truth of the guiding into truth work of the Holy Spirit in words and ways taught by the Spirit.
How do we know what is true and what is false?
What process do we use?
What resources do we use?
How often do we decide what is true and what is false?
What are the consequences of our decisions?
Jesus Asked The Father to Send Us a Helper
Jesus asked The Father to send us a Helper.
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, ... even the Spirit of truth. (John 14:15-17)
The Primary Work of The Helper Is To Guide Us Into All the Truth
Jesus must have had a reason: he must have had something for The Helper to do. He did. He sent The Helper to guide and lead us into all the truth.
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, ... and he will declare to you the things that are to come. (John 16:13)
Jesus must have perceived that we needed the Spirit of Truth to guide us into all the truth.
Those who are well have no need of a physician. (Matthew 9:12, Mark 2:17, Luke 5:31)
The scripture does not record Jesus asking The Father to give us any other help comparable to the help of The Helper. This implies that Jesus perceived that our greatest need was for a guide into truth.
We Need a Guide Into Truth
As a people who are deficient, or impaired, in perceiving truth, we are deficient in perceiving our deficiency. We do not perceive the degree, or scope, of our deficiency and the magnitude of the impact this has on our lives and the lives of those around us. We also do not perceive the help the Spirit of Truth gives us, how he guides us, and how to receive more help from him.
We may be completely unaware of our need for help perceiving the truth.
The Teaching in The Guiding Into Truth Work of the Holy Spirit
Fortunately, the Spirit of Truth intercedes on our behalf. One of the ways he guides us is through the teaching of teachers. Teachers are just as deficient in perceiving truth as those being taught. Teachers pray and ask God to send the Spirit of Truth to guide and lead them into the truth of the teaching: to make the words taught be those the Spirit teaches.
Those being taught pray and ask God to send the Spirit of Truth to guide them in the truth of the words they are hearing and works they may see.
The prayer behind all of the material and preparation for The Guiding Into Truth Work of the Holy Spirit is that it teaches the guiding into truth work of the Holy Spirit in words the Spirit teaches and demonstrates the guiding work of the Spirit.
Specifically, The Guiding Into Truth Work of the Holy Spirit will seek to demonstrate:
That guiding into truth is a work of the Holy Spirit
How the Holy Spirit guides us into truth
What truth is
Why truth is important
Our need for a guide into truth
Hearing the Holy Spirit guide us into truth
Aligning our lives with truth
1: Spirit of Truth
Spirit of Truth is the Holy Spirit
John records four instances where Jesus speaks of sending us a Helper. Three times Jesus called the Helper the Spirit of Truth. One time Jesus called the Helper the Holy Spirit.
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth... (John 14:16-17)
The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. (John 14:26)
When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. (John 15:26)
Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment ... When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth... (John 16:7-8, 13)
By referring to the Helper as both the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Truth, Jesus tells us that the Spirit of Truth is the Holy Spirit. Doing this also emphasizes the work of the Holy Spirit to help us in perceiving truth and aligning our lives with it.
For the most part, this book will follow Jesus' example and refer to the Helper as the Spirit of Truth, or the Spirit.
Work
Along with telling us that he is going to send the Spirit of Truth to help us, Jesus gives us some detail regarding the work that the Spirit will do.
Teach you all things
The Spirit of Truth will teach us all things.
The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things. (John 14:26)
Teaching us – imparting a perception of truth to us – is an important part of the guiding into truth work of the Spirit.
Bring to your remembrance
The Spirit of Truth will bring all things Jesus has said to us to our remembrance.
The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. (John 14:26)
Much of our perception of truth is remembering truth previously seen or heard. Reminding us of truth we have perceived is an important part of the work of the Spirit does to guide us into truth
Bear witness about Jesus
The Spirit of Truth will bear witness – testify – about Jesus.
he will bear witness about me. (John 15:26)
Testifying regarding truth witnessed is another part of guiding into truth.
Guide you into all the truth
The Spirit of Truth will guide us into all the truth.
he will guide you into all the truth (John 16:13)
Declare things that are to come
He will show us things to come.
he will declare to you the things that are to come. (John 16:13)
The Spirit of Truth will guide us into the truth of things that will be in the future.
Convict concerning sin, righteousness, judgment
The Spirit of Truth will convict the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment.
he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment (John 16:8)
Convicting – convince with solid, compelling evidence of truth¹ – is still another part of guiding into truth.
Glorify Jesus
The Spirit of Truth will glorify Jesus.
He will glorify me. (John 16:14)
The more we perceive the truth, the more we perceive the glory of what Jesus has done, is doing, and will do on our behalf.
Show us things that are Jesus'
He will show us things of Jesus.
he will take what is mine and
