She has got lots of rewards in her 27 years of career. Rewards like Anandhachari Arakattalai Virudhu for her essay Thennang Kaatru, Tamilnadu government award for her Vanathil Oru Maan short stories, Bharat State Bank's first prize for her Aagayam Arugil Varum essays, Kovai Lilly Deivasigamani Virudhu for her Kanniley Anbirunthal short stories. Beyond the Frontier has her outstanding short stories which are translated to english. Anthology of Tamil Pulp Fiction also has her 2 short stories.

இந்தக் கதைக்கு வருவதற்கு முன்னால் சுமார் இரண்டு வருடத்திற்கு முன் குரோம்பேட்டை. ரயிலடியில் நடந்த ஒரு சின்ன சம்பவத்தை சொல்லி விடுகிறேன்.
அன்றைக்கு புதன் கிழமை. ராசி பலனில் திருவோண நட்சத்திரக்காரர்களுக்கு யோகமான நாள் என்று பலன் போட்டிருந்ததைப் படித்து விட்டு அப்படி என்ன யோகம் எனக்கு காத்திருக்கிறது அதையும் ஒரு கை பார்த்து விடுவது என்று ஷர்ட்டை மாட்டிக் கொண்டு வெளியில் கிளம்பினேன். ஏதாவது லாட்டிரி விழுமா? ஒரு சீட்டு வேண்டுமானால் வாங்கிப் பார்க்கலாமா? லாட்டிரி டிக்கெட் விற்பவனும் ஒரு வேளை திருவோண நட்சத்திரக் காரனாக இருந்தால்...? என் காசால் அவனுக்கல்லவா யோகமாகி விடும்!
இப்படி தோன்றியதுமே லாட்டரிச் சீட்டு வாங்கும் எண்ணத்தை மாற்றிக் கொண்டு ரயிலடிப் பக்கமாக கையில் காய்கறிக் கூடை சகிதம் என் யோகத்தை தேடி லோ லோ என்று நடந்தேன். நான் வெளியில இறங்குகிறேன் என்றாலே, கொல்லைப் பக்கம் இருந்தால் கூட சியாமளாவுக்கு (என் தர்ம பத்தினி) மூக்கில் வியர்த்து விடும். என் கையில் காய்கறிக் கூடையை மாட்டி விட்டு விடுவாள், ஒரு வேளை நான் ஏதாவது எலக்ஷனில் நின்றால் காய் கறிக் கூடையைத்தான் என் சின்னமாக வைத்துக் கொள்வேன் என்று ஒரு குழந்தை கூட சொல்லி விடுமளவுக்கு நானும் என் காய்கறிக் கூடையும் அந்த ஏரியாவில் பிரசித்தம். சியாமளாவுக்கு பிரிஜ் முழுக்க காய்கறிகள் எப்போதும் நிறைந்திருக்க வேண்டும் குடிக்க தண்ணீர் கிடைக்கிறதோ இல்லையோ என் வீட்டு பிரிஜ்ஜில் ஒரு கடை வைக்குமளவுக்கு காய்கறி கிடைக்கும். இத்தனைக்கும் என் குழந்தைகள் காய்கறி என்றாலே காத தூரம் ஓடுவார்கள்.
நானும் அப்படி ஒன்றும் வாரி வளைத்து சாப்பிடும் ரகமல்ல.
