      A golden beam of light crept slowly through a crack in the curtain, and Rachael watched the illuminated dot as it inched its way across her bedroom wall. Dawn had long since broken but she was in no hurry to crawl out from under the covers, what did she have to get up for?

      To make my husband breakfast? To make a lover breakfast?

      She closed her eyes and squeezed back a tear that had been threatening, all that should have been behind her, she was supposed to be on the road to recovery by now.

      Maybe I am getting better she told herself as she tried to deflect the painful images forming in her mind, I'm just a bit low this morning. The sensible solution would have been to jump out of bed and fling the curtains wide, breathe in the fresh sea air, feel the warmth of the sun on her body... that always made her feel better.
