Currently, the world is in mourning over the loss of a music icon in Aretha Franklin. This woman was a warrior and a pioneer, two very strong qualities in a person. Not only did her accomplishments in music break barriers for genre, it also did for race, and years later, she battled her illnesses for close to a decade, before she completed her journey.

Born in humble beginnings in Memphis, Tennessee, Aretha Franklin embarked on a journey that would lead to her helping transform an entire nation. Within her life, she was a living embodiment of always living up to one’s potential. Growing up in a Christian background helped to shape Aretha Franklin to be the person she would become.

Before it was all said and done, Aretha Franklin would not only make chart-topping music, she would sing for royalty. When she’d complete her performances, there wouldn’t be a dry eye in the building. Her legacy included brushing shoulders with presidents, being honored in the White House, and presented with medals, among other prestigious honors.

Aretha Franklin was a one of a kind lady that made sure she used her resources to do more than just make music. Early on, she realized she had a powerful voice, in more ways than one, and she used
