About this ebook

The Waiting Room Cronicles offers an insightful look into the ancient concept of the Pool of Souls which illustrates the interplay of mythology, science and religion. In the short story, The Jubilee, set in the author's beloved Alabama, on a stormy day Greek gods befriend the young pure of heart. There are truths uncovered in these pages which reflect a portrait of man that changes with the political, environmental, and religious upheaval that daily forces man to confront his existential nature. It is the relentless pace of progress that makes man hessitant and brings him depression and pain.

In the room people await an assignment which will interject them into another situation either in the past, or future. Unfortunately, the ultimate outcome will be death. All believe an escape is possible if the beloved messenger brings the hoped for assissigment.

Author

Perry L. Angle

Perry L. Angle was a successful salesman, manager and stockbroker. He received his MBA from Auburn University. As an avid outdoorsman, he writes of his beloved South with humility and respect. The author of The Butterfly Transport and Prophet's Way is an accomplished champion of individual values. His unusual reflection of man in his existential response to stress is noteworthy. The author achieves a delicate balance in his use of science, philosophy and religion as he weaves portraits of man as he becomes despondent with each revelation of the difficulty of existence in a tumulteous world. Some readers will find truths explored that are applicable to their own situations

Philosophers since the time of the writer Origen and others have visited the idea of the Pool of Souls. It has fostered much conjecture. Simply stated after death the soul is recycled. In science, this is similar to the idea of the Conservation of Matter which states that Matter is neither created nor destroyed but simply changed in form. An example might be an ice cube which can be solid, or vapor (gas-like), or water.

The Waiting Room Chronicles explores this idea and incorporates some diverse religious doctrine in an effort to illustrate this unique concept. I have always been fascinated by the interplay of religion, mythology, science and philosophy. For instance there are a number of flood stories in mythology and in the literature of various cultures which can be found in religious teaching. The story describes an absurdist cyclicality based upon an unrealistic confidence in Hope.

This volume includes some poetry and prose which offers a satirical portrayal of our human condition. Also, a short story The Jubilee, further explores the interplay of mythology and religion. It takes place in Alabama during an unusual and isolated southern phenomenon called a jubilee. The
