1 John 5:14 and this is the confidence that we have in Him. That. If we ask anything according to His will he hears us.

This book is also dedicated to all my children and grandchildren: Stephen, Cynthia, Alvin, Karen, Mitchell, Gershon, Jackie & Jacqueline, Barbara, and William. They have been my strength and courage throughout the years. This is the confidence that we have in Him. That if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us and if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petition that we desired of Him.

Every special thanks to my LORD and savior Jesus Christ who is Lord of my life. Thanks to the Holy Spirit who has guided me over the years. The Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and has inspired me to write this book. One day while cleaning my apartment I stopped for my break and the voice spoke to me put it in writing. At first I did not understand but the voice kept coming back time after time. I could not escape it no matter how I tried.

    From Pastor Fogle

    Acts 27:44

I wanted to tell my life story in order to help those who might be going through the same trials. I made it only by God’s grace. Without His help I would not have made it. He brought me out one day at a time it was not easy. It was a journey, but He was with me all the way. He never left me. If it were not for the Lord on my side where would I be? As I wrote this book, God restored my shattered life and mended my broken heart. Just as He did it for me, He can do the same for you. Ask me how I know, according to Hebrew 13:8, Jesus said, I am the same yesterday today and forever. I could not see the end of the tunnel but with God I started hurting less and less each day. Until I was finally healed, the memories still remained for a long time. Now they are gone. Just like Joseph said, God had taken away the memory of how his brothers sold him into slavery. This book has been 25 years in the making. God has brought me from a mighty long way. I stood on his Word and the precious book; I ate it like my natural food. I trusted God with my whole heart. He taught me how to fight and taught my hands to war. He set me free, He healed my heart, He caused me to be more than a conquer. I want to spend my life helping to mend broken people and to let them know they too, can make it on broken pieces. What really made me know that God wanted this book to transpire is I had a dream one night that really made me know that it was the perfect will of God for me to write this book. I dreamt I saw a hand stretched out to me and as I opened my hand He put two gold coins in my hand. Then the person told me that the coins were for the book. Without a doubt, that let me know that God was my publisher. This book is inspired by the Holy Spirit. I found out that the Lord cannot put the pieces together if we do not give them to Him, so I did. 1 John 5: 14-15 says there are so many things God has done for me. I just want to help someone to learn to trust Him when they seem to think they cannot make it. They can make it with the help of God. He will take these broken pieces and mend them together again.

The winds may be so strong the waves may dash against your life, you do not know if you are going to make it. In Acts 27:44 the Bible states that survivors of the shipwreck had to use the broken pieces of the ship to stay afloat and arrive safely to land. Have you ever been there? So broken when your life seems it has been shattered to pieces. That is when you need to keep in mind you too can survive even with broken pieces. Sometimes you’ve tried everything you humanly know how, but it is not by might or power, it is by the spirit of God that helps us get rid of the things that hold us down. We must throw these things over board. When it looks like all hope has gone, do not despair for God is working things out. Just before morning at your darkest hour, joy will come. Paul knew he was not going to die because he was on a mission. When your faith is in God, the devil cannot kill you. There may be times when you feel that the devil will win. Hold strong to your anchor and grip the solid rock, and trust in God’s word; stand on it. He sent His angel to Paul and to us He gave the Holy Spirit. He is always with us. He never leaves. The Holy Spirit is our helper so we are able to make it through the storms of life. Do not be afraid Paul said. Jesus tells us to fear not. I do not know how long your storm has lasted, but hold on and do not give up. Hold on to God’s unchanging hand. Stay in the ship John 5, 14, 15, and 16. He did not promise that we would not have problems, He did say be in good cheer, I have overcome many trials and you will too. You just follow the wind of the Holy Spirit and it will guide you to your safe destination. The devil tried to the bitter end. 41 Verse tells us how determined Satan is to destroy and kill. There is a battleground and we are on that battleground at the forefront. We are in battle and we will win that battle. It is not only our battle, but the Lord’s battle. We may be battered, bruised and broken, but thank God we can make it with these broken pieces. He can mend your broken dreams. There are storms in our lives that sometimes we must encounter, but do not fear. They will do no harm if you just put your trust in Jesus, the storm will pass.

God’s grace is so awesome. I wrote this book for those who profess to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and I trust in Him for their salvation. Those who have not come to know Him as their only savior this book is for you. I believe you will find that there is a God who reveals Himself to the undeserving man. Our minds cannot comprehend how He could reveal some things that you will find in this book. I cannot make you believe in me, but trust that the Holy Spirit is real. I hope and pray that you too will realize the might of God’s love and power. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is our God and savior Jesus Christ. I hope and pray that the Holy Spirit opens your eyes, ears, and hearts. It will lead you unto His truths; His ways are not ours. My experiences and life’s journey is only one of many. I hope you will be blessed as you read this book, and know that you can make it on broken pieces of your ship. Yes, there is hope, strength, and comfort in our Lord Jesus Christ.

    The Indies

I was born in the Dutch West Indies, Statia which is one of the smallest islands in the Netherland Antilles, St. Eustatius. It is so small you could stand on one side and see the whole island. The only means of living was by fishing or planting. I was the eighth child of nine children, and the daughter of a fisherman. My sisters, brothers and I were very close to one another. The little things in life, like playing with dolls made from straws or cutting cane from the fields, made us happy. We never had much, but the little we did have, we were happy with. Going to school with slates and chalk, we learned the basic things we needed to know. Our teachers were nuns and very tough so we had no choice but to learn, or else. They did not waste time playing with the children. They would punish you and make you do your work. No one got away with anything, I mean anything. However, if they could help you, they did. When we would return home from school we had our chores to do. My oldest sister, Louise, would wash and iron the clothes. My oldest brother, Desmond, would go to the fields with my father. Then there was Claud, Evelyn, May, Stella, Abraham, Robert and I.

I was born in 1941, the year of World War II. Things were very hard and the only way people could survive was by the land or the sea. There was no imported food. My father would plant jams and potatoes then ship them on a big ship to Aruba to sell. The money helped us to pay for more grain. When it came to clothing, our mother knitted our hats and my grandmother used to make our panties out of flour sacks. My father would buy flour per 100 pounds, once a month. When the sacks were empty, my mother would wash them and make what we called bloomers. Because the panties were made with a wide crotch and drawstrings, accidents happened. One time my string broke and my bloomers fell down in front of my class. I was so ashamed that I ran all the way home in tears. Growing up in those days was hard. We had no running water and when it did not rain we would have to walk miles to get some and bring water back on our heads.

My father, Arthur, was a hard working man. He would go to the highest mountain or the lowest valley to find food for his family when it would not rain. He would get on his donkey and put us in the basket and take us to the beach. There would be a water hole and we would fill the jars. He would put grass in them and take them home. Then he would take mother down and she would wash our clothes and hang them out on the bushes to dry.

My father would cut down trees and burn them with what we called lime stones. That would make a powder. He would spend days by himself doing that, but at the end of the week he would have the money to give my
