About this ebook

The apostles asked Jesus to teach them how to pray like John had taught his disciples. We all think we know already how to pray; therefore, teaching about prayer is not necessary. Everyone knows how to pray! Why would there still be a need to teach us how to pray? Well, there is indeed a need to be instructed how to. Prayer seems a simple thing to do, but actually, it is one of the most complex things to do.
It is a science. If we are not aware of the laws of prayer, God does not answer, nothing happens, and all become quite complicated.
The capacity to pray along with knowledge is what we have that is most precious. You may not have a vast knowledge, you may not know all the secrets of the Bible; however, there is at least one thing that you can do, and that is to pray. Now if prayer is the first gift you have received, then take precious care of this gift.
You must take good care of it because it has the capacity to save you in times of trouble.
This book will change your approach toward prayer and will introduce you in an era of answered prayers like never before if you apply these instructions. In this book, you will realize how heaven can be so near to us.
A book for all the lovers of prayer!

    INTRODUCTION

Prayer is a worldwide subject, and everywhere people pray. We see it in the pilgrimages accross the world, in Mecca for the Moslems, in Lourdes, France for the Catholics, at the Wailing Wall for the Jews… Prayer is the common thread for each of these pilgrims. They gather in a specific place to pray, and invoke God, whatever the name they give Him, and to present Him with their requests, their demands, and their supplications, in other words, to express their desires to Him. Therefore, we can unmistakeably affirm that prayer is the most precious thing to man. Everyone where ever they find themselves to be, are bound to pray at some time in their life. Sometimes, it is the consequence of a violent situation, the hardships of life: this is the time where we wonder if there is anyone anywhere who would be willing to listen to us, someone who would care enough about our situation, and who would be able to help us. Someone who would not reproach us to waste his time in this world where it is difficult to find someone ready to listen to your story…

In other words, is there someone available for each of us? This is where the importance and the value of prayer reside. Yeshua says Himself: When you pray, enter into your closet, when you pray, pray to your Father which is in secret. Prayer is the most precious thing to a man, the deepest, the most secret, because he does not lie at the time of prayer. The one who prays expresses all that is in his heart because he steps into the presence of the highest dignitary, of the most powerful person in the universe; he stands before his Creator, before the One who formed him; therefore this is not the place to lie; we speak everything in prayer; this is why we are in the secret.

The messianic times have a particularity. The son of David, symbolized by Solomon, will have for mission to build the temple, which temple will be called according to Isaiah A house of prayer for all nations. Solomon, David’s son, the image of Mashiach, establishes the temple and lays its foundations; he builds a house in the name of the LORD. And so, prayer is the most important work that happens in the messianic times. Everything else, every things done beforehand, knowledge, revelations, all these things have had one goal: that the house of prayer becomes accessible to all nations, a place which becomes a source of joy, a place people turn to in their time of need, because they call upon God, because they seek God and find this God in this place; a God towards whom they turn in prayer and who answers their call; a God who hears prayer and who answers. Everything that happened beforehand has had one goal only: to establish the house of prayer. In the messianic times, God draws near and prayers become easy. God is no longer far, hence the principle of a house that is built. Now, as of that time, something will happen: when Solomon ends the building of the temple, he formulates a long prayer and at one time he declares the following:

1 Kings 8 :48-49 – If they pray onto You toward the land which You gave unto their fathers, the city which You have chosen and the house which I have built for Your name, then hear their prayer and supplication in heavens your dwelling place and maintain their cause.

And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him:

If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7: 14).

However to reach this point, people have to decide to address their prayers; people must pray. If I were to ask what about you, you would certainly reply that you attend church and that where you are you do pray. But are your prayers answered as you desire? And if I were to ask you, what is prayer to you, what answer would you give me? Can prayer be scientifically dissected? Does it possess components to be mastered that could help us? Is there wisdom to prayer?

    CHAPTER ONE: LOOK ON US

Solomon said that God does not live in a house made by man’s hands; this God that the heaven of heavens cannot contain, who cannot dwell in a house. Why then did Solomon build a temple? Why does Solomon spend seven years to build a temple in the name of the LORD, a place where people would be able to offer sacrifices, a place where people would be able to gather to hear the instructions of the priests, a place where people would come and invoke God and receive an answer to their prayers? Solomon’s prayer was: If they pray unto You, if they look towards this house and they pray, hear and answer their prayer1. We see that the house of prayer is a house of answered prayers, a house made for those who pray, those who labour in prayer in order to bring forth fruit. Yeshua will say: You have asked nothing in my name…ask… that your joy may be full2. Therefore, in the messianic times, our joy is when we begin to pray. The beginning of Solomon’s rule is marked by this temple service: to build the house of prayer.

Solomon says: 1 Kings 8 :48-49 – If they pray onto You toward the land which You gave unto their fathers, the city which You have chosen and the house which I have built for Your name, then hear their prayer and supplication in heavens your dwelling place and maintain their cause.

This speaks of the people which have been carried into captivity, when they are away from the land of Israel. In captivity, they will have to pray fixing their eyes towards the land of Israel; if they dwell in Israel, they will have to pray facing Jerusalem; and if they are in Jerusalem, they will have to pray facing the temple. Therefore our eyes, the direction towards which we direct our gaze in prayer is important. History books tell us that the first Christians would look towards the east when they would pray; and still today, the Moslems pray facing Mecca; however this is not the aim of this message. In praying, the place towards which we direct our gaze is important because the sanctuary is the choicest place, the maqom, the place where the shekina abides, the place where God dwells. The presence of God would manifest in the sanctuary just like this same presence was in the desert during Moses’ era; the presence of God went with the tabernacle in all the peregrinations of the children of Israel.

Where do you fix your gaze when you pray? Someone will say that when he prays he looks towards the sky, basing oneself on the Lord’s Prayer. Yet the Bible declares that the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him, and so let me ask you: which heavens are we referring to?. The scriptures pertaining to 1 Kings we read earlier declare Hear in heaven Your dwelling place. Here the heaven and Your dwelling place are the same thing. That being said, the dwelling place is the temple; and so when it is written Hear from heaven, we really say: Hear from the temple.

    In Psalm 20 it is written: The LORD hear you in the day of trouble ; the name of the God of Jacob defend you ; send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion ;

We understand here that the sanctuary of God, the place where God dwells, the place towards which prayers are directed, is the temple. In Jewish circles, the anniversary of the first and second destruction of the temple are times of mourning because it speaks of the destruction of the temple which purpose is to be the house of prayer and the joy of the whole earth, the place towards which prayers are directed and the place out of which proceed the answers. Imagine the place where your answers come from, burned by fire… This is truly a time of mourning!

The capacity to pray goes with knowledge, what is most precious to us. You may not have a vast knowledge; you may not know all the secrets of the Bible, all the hidden things, the numerical values, etc. but there is one thing you can do and that is to pray. And if prayer is the first gift you have received, then do guard it well. You must guard your prayer time for it has the capacity to save you. It is written In the day of trouble, call upon my name, or in the day of distress, pray; in the day of suffering, pray. It is not written: In the day of trouble, scream for help, flee, cry and fall into depression…! It is neither written to moan and bemoan our fate, to tell our problems to whomever would listen and to believe we are abandoned by God. It is not written that in the day of trouble it is the time to sit on the ground, to complain and to wonder what is happening to us and even why to us. It is written: In the day of trouble, pray. The day of trouble is created just for this, to pray. This is the time where we will know who is our God. Your God is the one you call upon in the day
