    To my entire family. My parents for making me who I am, my grandparents for making them, my sister whom I love dearly and my brother, God rest his soul. Also to my children who are the bravest and most courageous people I know. And lastly, all of my aunt’s, uncles and cousins, I’ll never forget those good ’ole days on Red Bank Rd!

    Introduction

    We live our lives each day trying to answer questions about ourselves and others. About life, relationships, hardships, perseverance, tragedy and triumphs . . . and all the while, wondering if the grass is indeed greener on the other side of the fence? That fact of the matter is . . . you just don’t know, and we will never know, because even when you think you know, or get the feeling that you’re beginning to figure it out, life seems to throw that unexpected curveball that goes against everything you thought you knew.

    I could say that I have had a relatively blessed life. As a child, I had the pleasure of having a mother and father, in the same house, until my later teenage years. Yes, of course they got divorced . . . it seems everyone does these days. But my parents were good parents, non-abusive, supportive and gave me several life experiences that most children do not have the opportunity to be exposed to during their adolescent lives. They laid a foundation for me that included love, patience and a good understanding of the fact that there are people throughout this world that are less fortunate than us, and to therefore be a giving and helpful person, not matter what the circumstances may present. We were not wealthy, and yes we had our typical family problems that every
