About this ebook

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in God's Word and is filled with encouragement to rejoice in the good times and persevere during difficult times. For twenty-two days, you can take a journey with the psalmist and learn how to live life in God's strength. The transformation in your life will make the journey worth it.

Psalm 119 is broken out into twenty-two sections with eight verses each. This book uses these sections as daily devotions/meditations/thoughts to highlight one specific theme. The intent is for the reader to use this as a daily quiet time while staying within the context of the entire psalm for one month of working days. This will help ignite the discipline of reading and studying Gods Word daily and meditating upon its meaning.

Regardless of who the original author of this psalm was, it is quite apparent that he was very passionate about Gods Word. He was not interested in robotic religion or mechanical obedience. Rather, he surrendered his whole heart and soul to God, the one who made heaven and earth and gave humanity the perfect law to follow.

May this book be used as a tool for you to attain a delight in knowing, loving and serving the Lord with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Preface: My Story

When you purchase books or music written by a Christian have you ever stopped to think that you are buying into their Christian walk? Are you familiar with his or her story of how and why the author or composer accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord? The substance of that person’s work usually shows the depth of their commitment. By way of keeping it real, this is my story.

I was born and raised on Long Island, New York, as the youngest of three sons in a Jewish family. I use the term Jewish loosely since we didn’t practice our religion nor partake in any Jewish traditions. For all intents and purposes I was just like most boys my age. I played ball in the neighborhood, watched sports and cartoons on television, went to school and played in the school band.

At the beginning of my high school senior year in September 1980 I had a conversation with Patti, one of my classmates. I had known Patti since sixth grade, through band and common classes. We talked about how we spent our summer. I talked about mine, and then she said something quite peculiar about the big event in her summer.

I got healed and I got saved.

I replied, You got what and what?

She proceeded to share with me the details of how and why she accepted Jesus as her Savior and Lord. I listened, thought it was interesting, but certainly not for me.

During the course of our senior year Patti periodically shared the Gospel with me. By the latter part of the school year I told her, I don’t know what I’m supposed to be about, as a Jew. Don’t tell me how to be a Christian. And that stopped the conversation.

On June 3, 1981 a member of the band named Debbie Wieber was involved in a serious car accident. Debbie was a junior, a member of the Honor Society, and the cutest clarinet player in the band. I had a silent crush on her from afar. The car accident, which happened on her seventeenth birthday, left her brain damaged and breathing only on a respirator. She died on June 6, 1981.

I was completely devastated. How could God take someone who had her whole life ahead of her, could’ve excelled in any vocation she chose, but leave someone like me behind, who would only become
