    The Armor of God

[EPH 6:10] Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

[11] Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

[12] For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

[13] Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

[14] Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

    [15] And having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

[16] Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

    [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

[18] Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints —

[19] And for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,

    The Point

The Lord has been very gracious to me in my life and you will be able to read more about my life in the back of this book in The Story Continues. There are a few key points that I would like to share with you in this book and the first thing is this; Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind. [PHI 3:13-16].

I’ve disobeyed: I’ve been wrong I’ve failed to meet certain conditions. Wherein I have disobeyed my lifestyle has been one of unfulfilled promise. The good news is: Now it is not too late to come back and be renewed by the power of God.

Not only can we point to the results of disobedience in our own lives we can also give illustration after illustration of what happened to the people of God in the Scriptures when they disobeyed. Moses thought he could beat the system. He was going to deliver his people from bondage with his own strength.

In trying to accomplish something good, he did some things that were both foolish and wrong. In a burst of anger he killed an Egyptian slave-master. He had failed to wait upon the Lord. His timing was wrong, so he had to flee to a foreign country. During those forty years in the backside of the desert, the arrogance and the pride of his first forty years in the court of Pharaoh were driven from him.

This is a tough life. We want all the goodies, but we don’t want the sacrifice. We are called to expendability and to a life of obedience. There’s too much of American Christianity today that is geared, to getting what we want to satisfy our own personal pleasures.

I’m convinced that our people are hungry to hear an honest word from us. I believe that they’re tired of blaming God for everything that goes wrong in their lives.

The problem is they have been sold a false bill of goods. They are bombarded with religious teaching in the media and in popular self-help books that convince them that God is some kind of genie whose sole purpose to bring us personal pleasure. I could never understand why I was unable to stay in church any length of time.

    Later on in my life after repentance and maturity, and a new commitment, much prayer and study I realized I was one of those people who committed themselves to Christ in an emotional, superficial way, but that commitment was not real. I remained interested only until there was a sacrificial price to pay and I would abandon Christ. My life was in a mess when I came back to Christ and I came to a point I realized that I needed help with my life and I needed to be in a new place in my life. Think about this;

We love new things and new ideas. I love the smell of a new brand new car or a new home with brand new carpet and fresh paint. I love to read a new book. A new city with its excitements can be attractive. The truth is we like almost everything new.

Sometimes we are afraid to experience new things. Sometimes we don’t want to step out on faith when God wants to do new things in our lives. You do know that God does new things right? Or do we sometimes think that we have been doing some things so long and we have arrived and don’t need God’s help and we can do it on our own?

Jesus has given us the divine sacrifice and unlimited atonement for our sin and some Christians are doing the same thing and looking for different results. Some will go to church every Sunday and some will go two or three times through the week but do you think that God is pleased with that alone? Before your jaws get puffed up like a bull frog just take some deep breaths and think about the question.

The Clark Sisters recorded a song some years ago and they asked the question is my singing in vain? Is my teaching in vain? Is my preaching in vain? Am I wasting my time? Some of us read and study so much and is it in vain?

The point is that maybe our life has become so boring because a lot of us are ritualistic and have plenty of unconfessed sin in our lives. Some of us are so excited about the mega churches and we have forgotten about what Jesus said: Straight is the gate and narrow is the way but broad is the way that leads into destruction. There is a traffic jam on Broadway.

God is concerned about the lives of everyone and pleased with the souls being saved. The spreading of His Word and salvation, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the very heart of God’s integrity.

A mega church means nothing if the Holy Spirit is not convicting and bringing sinners to Christ. Most preachers if they are honest will agree with that statement and frankly I don’t care if they agree or not.

The church has become an entertainment center and a lonely hearts club a place for a social gathering so people can feel good and live Holy on Sunday and raise Hell Monday—Saturday. The boss can’t even get in the door good because of complaints against some of the Christians trying to witness on the time clock instead of getting their work done.

God is not pleased when you and I are on the job that He has blessed us to have and our production is below satisfaction. You are being a sanctimonious hypocrite while letting your work pile up and other people have to work overtime to help you because you are on the cell phone talking all day.

Prove how good God is by being the best that you can be on your job even if people do get jealous of you because your production is higher than theirs. God is glorified when we do our jobs. There will be plenty of time for witnessing.

Doing a good job might be a new thing for some of us. I hear Isaiah’s quote all the time; God is going to do a new thing in the earth and he is going to compass a child. Do you think that God is pleased with us believing His Word and not believing that He wants do a new thing in our lives? But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. [HEB 11:6]

God had a purpose for doing a new thing in the earth and we must always remember that. God has a purpose in lives and for our lives and blessings aren’t just for heaven but for us on earth. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. [JER 29:11-13]

Evangelizing may be a new thing for some Christians. Finding your gift may be a new thing for you. Did you asked God to show you your gift? He has one for you and He wants you to use it for His Glory.

Maybe that is the reason a lot of Christians are so board and don’t know what to do or they need to learn; If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you also once walked when you lived in them.

But now you must also put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, [COL 3:1-10]

Let us take a look at what God said in the New Testament through His servant Paul. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. [Romans 6:1-4.]

Paul is stating that we can and should walk in the newness of life and he is also showing us the obvious of why we are not walking in the newness of life. Read the rest of Romans Six and Chapters 7-8.

Please let me share this with you; something about these verses and more; Fallacy of Sinning That Grace Might Abound. 6:1-14 1. If grace is so powerful, could not a man remain in sin and still experience the delivering power of grace? 2. Paul’s answer is emphatic: By no means.

The one trusting Christ has identified himself with the Lord Jesus in His death. We who died in reference to sin: Verse 10 makes it clear that Paul is here speaking of Christ’s death. But he uses the first person plural—We have died to sin. This is a past experience. Such being the case, how can we still live in sin when we have already died to it?

Was Paul onto something when He made the statement; Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.[2CO 5:17]?

Things keep becoming new because God is progressive.

Every day is a new day experience and our lives are nothing but new beginnings and I am convinced that God’s mercies are new everyday and we should be looking and ready for God to do new things in our lives. We should wake up with excitement and anticipation on what God is getting ready to do in our lives. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. [ROM 12:2]

    New Creation

The term itself occurs in Gal 6:15) (RSV, NASB) and 2Co 5:17 (RSV). This subject is associated by the Scriptures with the original general creation recorded in Gen 1 and 2, as in the case of Isa 40:26-31 and Isa 42:5-7 (the God who created all things will redeem and strengthen His people); and 2Co 4:6 (the God who brought the light into existence at creation has enlightened the minds and hearts of His people; cf. 2Co 5:17).

Also the new creation is compared by Scripture to the original creation of man as is seen in Eph 4:24 (the new man in Christ is created after God in righteousness and holiness) and in Col 3:10 (the new man is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of God who created him).

The subject of the new creation centers around two major themes: the new spiritual creation of man and the implications following there from; and the new physical-material creation to be brought into being in the events involving the second coming of Christ.

Both the OT and NT speak in similar terms of the new creation of man based on the redeeming work of Christ accomplished on the cross. Christ is the Head of this new creation both as its creator, and as the firstfruits, the first to be resurrected in this new life (Col 1:18-20; 1Co 15:20, 23). These concepts include:

    1. A new covenant in connection with which God’s Word becomes a vital part of the redeemed individual’s life (Jer 31:31-34; Mat 26:28; Mar 14:24; Luke 22:20; Heb 8:8-12; 9:15); it demands a new and different sign or seal—baptism.

    2. The new divine creative work of the new birth or regeneration (q.v.) produced by God and His Spirit (Eze 36:26-27; John 1:12-13; 3:3-5; Rom 7:6; Tit 3:5) brought to fulfillment through the redemptive work of the incarnate Christ (Isa 42:5-9; Eph 2:10).

    3. A new spiritual enlightenment as to the importance of Christ and His salvation Isa 42:6; Luke 2:32; John 1:4-5,9; 3:19; 8:12; 12:35-36,46; 1Jo 1:5-6; 2:8-11).

    4. A new heart and life (Eze 36:26-27; Rom 6:4; 2Co 5:17; Eph 2:10).

    5. A new or renewed personal relationship to God (Jer 31:32-33; Eph 2:11-22; Hos 2:23).

    6. A renewal in the image of God like that in which man was originally created (Gen 1:26-27) with respect to knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness (Eze 36:26; Eph 4:24; Col 3:10).

    7. A new commandment to love one another even as Christ has loved us (John 13:34).

    8. A new revived walk and freedom in the way of the Lord (Eze 36:27; Gal 4:5-7; 5:1,13; Rom 8:2; Eph 2:10).

    9. A projected millennial situation when all of God’s people will in fact know the Lord (Jer 31:31-34; Heb 8:8-12; cf. Rev 20:4-6).

The Gr. words used for this new creation in the NT are ktizo (to create) the ktisis (creation), one of the word types, along with poieo (to make) used by the LXX instead of demiourgeo (to work at, fabricate) (cf. LSJ and HR) which word may have been thought by the Jewish translators of the Heb. OT into Gr. as suggesting depreciation of God’s creative power (cf. B. W. Anderson, Creation, IDB, I, 731).

Of the new creation’s theme concerning the new physical-material creation of the future, both the OT and NT suggest that God’s covenant promises involve a millennial milieu of peace and harmony in the physical and animal creation (Isa 11:1-9; Hos 2:18-23; Rom 8:19-23) at the time in which Christ shall come to reign on earth with His saints (Rev 20:4).

Also both Testaments present a future newly created heaven and earth in which there will be no sin or evil (Isa 65:17-18; 66:22-24; 2Pe 3:13; Rev 21:1-8). It will have a new capital, the New Jerusalem (Rev 3:12; 21:2, 10). [The Wycliffe Bible Encyclopedia] [W. H. M.]

What is the Christian’s purpose on earth? Every believer in Jesus Christ should ask this question. After salvation what? Eternal salvation becomes an accomplished fact at the moment of faith in Christ. Heaven is absolutely guaranteed for anyone who has believed in Christ as Savior (Rom. 8:38-39; 1Pet. 1:4-5).

But the quality of the believer’s life on earth depends on his execution of God’s plan after salvation. Impact and blessings in time and eternity depend on fulfilling God’s plan in time. The question becomes emphatic. What is God’s plan for the believer following that initial instant of personal faith in Christ?

God freely gives all things after providing salvation (Rom.8:32). What are they? After salvation what? The simplified answer: Learn Bible doctrine! The Bible reveals God’s Person and plan. Only through knowledge of God can anyone appreciate, love and worship Him. As Christians we are commanded to renovate [our] thinking with divine viewpoint thinking so God’s gracious purpose can be fulfilled in and through our lives (Rom. 12:12; Eph.1:18; 4:22-24).

God’s purpose for the postsalvation life of the believer calls for spiritual growth (2 Pet. 3:18). The Christian is kept alive on earth to fulfill his destiny, which is to become a mature believer, a spiritual winner, a mature person to the measure of the maturity which belongs to the fullness of Christ (Eph. 4:13-16). Each believer’s life becomes a unique expression of the glory of God in both time and eternity (Rom. 8:29-30; 9:23-24), but only the mature believer glorifies God by receiving the highest and best that God has prepared for him( Rom. 6:1-2a; 1 John 5-2:6). Divine blessings that the Christian can understand and experience and the overt manifestations of the Christian way of life come as results of spiritual growth. The means of spiritual growth is the believer’s consistent reception, retention, and recall of Bible doctrine through all the circumstances of his/her life.

Take a look at how the doctrine of dispensations shows the Church Age believer where the he or she stands in the panorama of human history, but this doctrine also teaches him or her how to have an influence on history. When a Church Age believer advances to maturity, he/she has a positive impact. In the Old Testament dispensations God worked through visible heroes like Abraham, Moses, David and Daniel.

In the Church Age, God works through invisible heroes. The difference is that every Church Age believer has equal privilege and equal opportunity to become an invisible an invisible hero. The positive impact of the royal family comes from the individual believer’s personal execution of the protocol plan of God.

As Christ distributes blessings to the mature believer, those blessings benefit the believer’s periphery and his nation. The reverse also is true. God may protect and bless the nation as a means of blessing the mature believer. Therefore, the vigor of a generation and the divine blessing it enjoys spring from these believers who thrive under God’s plan, not from political, social, or religious crusades to change the world.

The negative impact of the royal family also comes from the individual believer. The believer who rejects the plan of God brings suffering and divine discipline upon himself, and becomes a source of adversity in his periphery and nation. Therefore, every individual Christian has a major role to play in his generation of the Church Age. Believers can be invisible heroes or invisible villains, but there are no ordinary Christians in the royal family of God.

Think about this; the great power experiment of the Church Age was designed to create invisible heroes. An invisible hero is any Christian who advances to spiritual maturity. In maturity he has fivefold impact.

    1. Personal Impact. Individuals in the mature believer’s periphery, including family, loved ones, and the organizations to which he belongs, receive blessing by their association with him.

    2. Historical Impact. The client nation] receives blessing through the mature believers who reside within the borders. The vigor, prosperity and survival of the client nation [Israel] revolve around mature believers. This is the principle of the pivot (1 Kings 19:18; Matt. 5: 13-16; Rom. 11:2-5; Eph. 1:21-23). A pivot of anonymous, unsung, invisible heroes is the spiritual solution to national degeneracy. Below a certain level of national decline, the spiritual pivot is the only solution and a nation’s only hope. Blessing to the nation is an escrow blessing our Lord distributes to the mature believer. In this way Jesus Christ earns all the glory, and His reputation is not obscured by the questionable judgment of over-zealous Christians attempting to play power politics in

His name. Those who vainly strive to establish the kingdom of God on earth during the Church Age overlook this principle of invisible historical impact. As a good citizen (made better by his Christianity) the believer contributes positively to his nation; he does not crusade in the name of Christianity to remake his nation in the image of his personal faith (Rom. 13:1-15).

    3. International Impact. A client nation is a national entity in which a certain number of spiritually mature believers form a pivot sufficient to sustain the nation and through which God furthers His plan for mankind.

The covenant that God made with Israel created a particular relationship of blessing between God and the nation. Israel was and will be the unique client nation to God, His specially protected representative on earth (Ex. 19:5-6; Hosea 4:6). Definite responsibilities belonged to the Old Testament client nation under the Mosaic Law Codices I and III protected human life, freedom, privacy, and property. Codex II charged individual believers and communicators of God’s Word with accuracy presenting the Gospel and teaching Bible doctrine within the nation.

And missionaries from the client nations were to carry the Gospel and Bible doctrine to nonclient nations (Deut. 4:6-6; Jonah). Client —nation Israel was answerable directly to God for the custodianship of His Word. Woe to any outsiders who dared to persecute the Jews.

God committed this protective principle to writing in the anti-Semitism clause of the Abrahamic Covenant. And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. (Gen. 12:3a, NASB). This solemn clause is part of an unconditional covenant and therefore, remains in force to this day. God protects the Jewish race through every generation of history so that He can ultimately fulfill His covenants with her.

Nonclient nations are blessed by association with mature believers who come as missionaries from a client nation. This is one of the responsibilities of the client nation. Unfortunately, not all missionaries are mature believers, but the missionary who is an invisible hero is a source of blessing to two nations: the nation in which he or she serves and from the nation in which he is sent.

    4. Angelic Impact. God summons the invisible hero to the witness stand, as it were, to provide testimony in the appeal trial of Satan. Angels constantly observe the human race (1 Cor. 4:9); Eph. 3:10; 1Tim. 5:21; cf, 1 Pet. 1:12), and mature believers are strong evidence of the grace of God. The devil cross examines the mature believer through suffering (Job 1:6-12; 2:1-6; cf, Matt. 4:1-11; Eph. 6: 11-12). By using divine resources to pass
